How to plau multiplayers?

Hi all,

I know this is odd to ask this, but this is my first time to play OFP online with someone, I have a friend in other country would like to do some killing, but how to set it?

I chose DirectPlay, Internet, and make a New server etc, but still cannot see him, do I need to run it on gamespy instead of from the ingame multiplayer?
