Sounds interesting!

I'm using sound blaster live 5.1 under win2k and i get this crackle prob with or without EAX and acceleration, so i just been to update the drivers from CL (SBLiveXPDrvUpdate), ive give it a good testing (with and without EAX/acceleration) and i'm still getting the crackle its just that putting EAX on makes it a little less obvious.

However i only get crackle with certain vehicles ie. Jeeps at low revs, tanx, and uh60 choppa it seems that its the low frequency sounds i have trouble with, this doesnt happen on any other game as ive noticed but then again with me being hopelessly addicted to OFP i dont really see much else.

A very strange problem because since owning OFP the day it came out ive had these damn crackles, but whats even weirder is when i first got the game i was running a Yamaha crappy soundcard under winME, then i got a soundblaster live and it still happened, so i got that turtle beach soundcard (Å80 approx) it still happened, and now im running a soundblaster live 5.1 under win2k with new hard drive (and ALL relevant updates) and it STILL happens.

I was just about to start meesing with BIOS and all that pci stuff, but luckily i had the idea to upgrade the driver via the "system properties/hardware/devices/sound controllers" i did a search for a better driver at the microsoft site and it found a better one,  biggrin.gif  now it works a treat with acceleration eax an everythin  biggrin.gif

Grrrrrrrr i spent days searching sites for win2k drivers none worked, mind you i'm not entirely sure what my soundcard is does any1 know how to find out cos the shop that replaced it(sonic fury) tells me its a live 5.1 but i'm not too sure, and besides i need more detailed info for searching for drivers

eg live 5.1 gamer/live 5.1 platinum/live 5.1 1024 etc   the shop are being shady about it and say theyve lost the box,  so i was wondering if theres a place in win2k to find out exactly.

P.s Thanx Avon lady anyways, jeez you must be a busy lady!

This should help you with identifying your card

Then once you've found the number from the guide of the above link go to the next page which lets you put in that number and tells you what card you have smile.gif

The model number is SBO 100, but the bottom link doesnt work confused.gif
