breaker44 0 Posted May 25, 2006 So I'm looking for an island that best recreates Chechnya without slowing down my computer to infantile speeds. I have used the unfinished "Chechen Lahta" map and love it, but it slows my computer down way too much. Any suggestions as to what would be a good substitute? Thanks BreakerOut
Kin Hil 0 Posted May 25, 2006 If you think the unfinished version lags like hell, the finished version was impossible to play. There aren't any good maps that simulate chechnya very well. Just like there aren't any good maps that simulate any real conflict areas... not even Iraq. Take Kolgujev and add objects, mosques and such. Allahu Ackbar! breaker44 0 Posted May 25, 2006 Okay- I may give that a shot, I guess I could download the BKM objects pack, but still, there's gotta be an island...what about Bob's Basra map? I cant download it from ofp.cz, can anyone send it to me? Thanks, BreakerOut
Ike_Trak 0 Posted May 25, 2006 I dont know Basra map but since Basra is seaside and deserty it wont fit for Chechnya. You need a mountaineous terrain with high peaks, steep curves, narrow passages etc... Also the forests and vegetation is different, cold climate type. breaker44 0 Posted May 25, 2006 Oh, the reason I mentioned that is because the picture that was offered as a preview of the map on ofp.cz shows a rugged, semiforested landscape. Any other ideas? BreakerOut
Connors 0 Posted May 25, 2006 The Trosky region of Nogova, perhaps the mafact versions
Kin Hil 0 Posted May 25, 2006 You know Chechnya isn't the only Russian region in conflict. The islamist insurgency has spread to the neighboring autonomous zones of Dagestan, Ingushetia, and Kabardino-Balkariya. I say this because while it's unlikely you will find a map very representative of Chechnya, you can find some that look rather close to the others. Add some muslim/middle-eastern buildings (afghan objects pack & BKM objects pack etc) to the newest desert everon and you have an excellent Southern-Dagestan. Hell, there are even islands in Dagestan on the Caspian... so its very convenient. That's a good idea, I'm off to do it.
breaker44 0 Posted May 25, 2006 Hmmmm I may have to look into this. However, I still would like to find any alternatives to using nogova, as I kinda know the island, and it would be hard to replicate a Russian soldier's perspective. BreakerOut
