Maya to O2

Recommended Posts

Hello dear BIS Forum members.

I have come to you to ask a question, which may have been asked before. I could not find the answer by using the 'Search' function. No specific answer, at least.

My question is, how exactly do you convert Maya files to O2 ?

Word has reached my ear that I need a plugin, or a tool.

Can anyone help me ?

Lots of thanks,

- Viper

All you need is a 3ds output file.

So, try finding an 3ds export pluggin for maya or get yourself a Deep Exploration software which can do that for you.

There is some other options, but this is what I use for my Max and XSI models. Works well.

So I need to download a tool that will allow me to convert a Maya file to .3ds and then open the .3ds in O2 ?

Excellent. Is there any plugin you could recommend me ?

How about some searching, huh?

Try 1 for starters. I can't get there now.

Cpt Viper, If you can export an .obj file do so and import to Anim8or, you can download Anim8or for free from Here.

Import the .obj file, Object>import.

Now for o2 to import the 3ds file you need to turn on Dummy 3DS Kdata, Do this by going to Options> Debug> Dummy 3DS Kdata.

Now you can export to 3ds, Object> export.

If you need more help just send me a PM. welcome.gif

Thank you very much for your help, I appreciate it.

I can't export to .OBJ however, I can IMPORT to .OBJ.

The only formats Maya is letting me export is:

.mb

.ma

.mov

.*

.fbx

.dfx

I have Maya 7.0.1. I believe it's the Unlimited version.

Load the Maya OBJ Plug-In, you can do this in the plugin manager.

Windows> Settings Preferences> Plugin Manager> objexporter
