EiZei 0 Posted May 14, 2006 how do we even know that in the games storyline, USSR doesnt still exist? Judging by the equipment in the videos and screenshots, the game seems to be set in the present. Now, as far as I can remember the USSR doesnt exist anymore  Alternative histories are called alternative histories for a reason.

Guest Ti0n3r Posted May 14, 2006 I don't wan't to discuss the politics of the DRS. Some people like them, some people hate them Nah, but I bet they'll speak russian and I bet they'll have spetsnaz troops.
echo1 0 Posted May 14, 2006 I'd also be interested in the Southern Force, and possible resistance side
-Grenadier- 0 Posted May 14, 2006 You know, this is an interesting topic. We want interesting units and a formidable enemy for our war games, but if they are going to be realistic, there really is no one able to stand up to the U.S., as far as I know. It can get a little touchy when we're talking about modern warfare. In real life, I wish more of the United States' money was spent on things other than the military, and wars are horrible things. Yet, some immature part of me wants Russia or China or some other somewhat unfriendly nation (politically, I've got nothing against Russians or Chinese) to develop new weapons so we can have some good "East" weapons for Armed Assault. Maybe this is why so many war games are WW2 or entirely fictional?
EiZei 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Maybe this is why so many war games are WW2 or entirely fictional? Or maybe because if you make a game about any conflict post-1945 youll eventually run into moral/historical problems and ultimately will piss off some goverment/group of people. Ukraineboy 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Whether we have Russians are not, we'll have plenty of modders there to make everything. I mean jesus christ look at FFUR 2006. The T-80 in there is ArmA quality right there.
Friedchiken 0 Posted May 15, 2006 You know, this is an interesting topic. We want interesting units and a formidable enemy for our war games, but if they are going to be realistic, there really is no one able to stand up to the U.S., as far as I know. It can get a little touchy when we're talking about modern warfare. Â In real life, I wish more of the United States' money was spent on things other than the military, and wars are horrible things. Yet, some immature part of me wants Russia or China or some other somewhat unfriendly nation (politically, I've got nothing against Russians or Chinese) to develop new weapons so we can have some good "East" weapons for Armed Assault. Â Maybe this is why so many war games are WW2 or entirely fictional? Speaking from my point of view, China takes it's competitive relationship with the USA very very seriously. Â It had been very surprising how China's military has evolved from partisan tactics to conscription to a professional military culture. Â However, the Chinese tend to take things very rationally, pursuing compromises with every nation of influence while developing the military force to advertise a deterrent power. Now, the Chinese can deny spying on us all they want, but they will censor any ideas of a China vs USA war scenario, because their politicians see peace as a better long term solution. Â Unlike the Iranians, the Chinese are very good at suppressing their egos and acting professionally. Â The Chinese have the firepower, the training, and the lack of moral baggage they need to check everyone in line, while at the same being very polite about it to neighboring countries. This is part of the reason why I am not too concerned about Muslim domination of the world. Â The Chinese may be playing along with the Middle East, but WWIII will rage if the Caliphate targets China. But even if China wants to secure peace for its people, maybe they want to secretly put some elite recon troops in South America just the practice jungle warfare; you never know. I would bet though that China would rather supply partisans rather to fight an expensive war itself. I just hope that China doesn't invade while I'm interning in Taiwan this summer. Â But with all the economic domination China utilizes with trade, it's probably not necessary. Uh, feel free to disagree, I'm just an asian-american here. CameronMcDonald 146 Posted May 15, 2006 On topic, Ukraineboy is right - wait for RHS and ORCS, the premier Russian unit factories to get into gear. It will be ON!
Friedchiken 0 Posted May 15, 2006 Maybe "Retaliation 3" campaign will be for Armed Assault. That would be nice.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted May 15, 2006 3? AFAIK, they only got up to Part 2, and that's probably never going to see the light of day.
Friedchiken 0 Posted May 15, 2006 3? AFAIK, they only got up to Part 2, and that's probably never going to see the light of day. Sadly that might be true. Â I'm just assuming that if part 2 comes out, it will be for OFP (Everon island), not AA.
