reaper 0 Posted August 15, 2001 I got to play OFP on a 100Mbps LAN last weekend. Â It was just me and two other guys, we each had original copies, and all we all got the "fade" message. Â We saw no effects of fade, until the second day. Â I don't know if it was fade or not, but when I start the game from the shortcut icon, the shadows would flicker and I get other strange graphical things happening. Â It did not happen if I start the game from doubleclicking the CD drive. Â I don't have a cd crack, or any other exe mods, and I don't think my OFP CD has left the CD drive since I got it. Â Now that me and my computer are back home, it seems to have cleared up. There was one other strange thing that happened while playing a mission. Â One of the guys just died for no aparent reason. Â After the mission was over, the debriefing showed that he killed himself. Â How is that possible?
SchutzStaffel 1 Posted August 16, 2001 Reinstall OFP and it will get rid of the FADE effects, just dont go in MP, BIS screwed MP horribly!

Rax 0 Posted August 29, 2001 No. When playing Multiplayer it checks at sometime if everybody has Legit copies. It displays then the message" original games do not fade" or something like that. Players with cracks and hacked.exe get disconnected and fade starts on there computers. So if you all 3 had legit copy you get the message but nothing happens further. I could be wrong
ufo_hk 1 Posted August 30, 2001 All MP players will get a warning message - just like the copywright warning on video tapes. However if you have illegal exe's you're get a little more
crashdome 3 Posted January 8, 2002 Well, you mentioned that your friends had original copies, but were they using any add-ons or such? From what I experienced in LAN is that someone had an unofficial add-on that caused FADE message and it broadcast the message to all of us. He removed the add-on and did a reinstall (or something to that effect.. it was a long time ago and earlier versions) and viola! All was OK. Could that be your problem? RN Malboeuf 12 Posted January 8, 2002 Addons do not cause fade, only Cracked NO CD exes get fade or if you conect to a server and some one has the same CD Key you get disconected fade does not cause graphic bugs, it makes your Aim screw up in game and you get disconected from servers in MP If you really did have different CDs and one of you crashed, and then relogged on and saw your name twice you'll get the MSG but nothing really happens as BIS fixed that
