Hardman_506thIR 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Firstly, I realise that many people will roll their eyes at this. And I don't blame you. This even seems like a stupid question to me but I figure that its best to clarify. In a multiplayer game, does the server decide what the AI is going to do? Or is it somehow split amongst the clients? I understand that Dedicated server probably (99.99%) does but what about playing direct (using an IP)? The reason I ask is that if I was to enable Super AI on my computer, and then my friends join my game using IP, will they get Super AI or will they have to change their settings? By the way, this is v1.46 (if it makes a difference or not I have no idea) Thanks TD
ryankaplan 1 Posted April 13, 2006 as far as i'm aware, ai is server controlled yes. Any settings on the server will be forced on the clients even if they don't have it. Eg (viewdistance, terraingriddetail, 3rd person, crosshair, super ai, etc) However, any ai a client is controlling via the ofp squad interface (F1-F12) will be local to the client rather than the server. Although those ai will still have the server settings forced on them because the player controlling them is using those settings. hope this helps.
zyklone 1 Posted April 13, 2006 All AI is not run on the server. It depends on where the AI is local, which depends on how/where it's been created. As you probably noticed sometimes your AI will begin speaking odd languages, this seems to happen when someone elses computer tries to take control over your AI. Shinbusan 0 Posted April 13, 2006 But this is different thing if you talking about 'superAI' as it is a question about configuration. In MP all clients use server's settings so if they join you, they have superAI. And there is always a server. Machine which is hosting a game is a server.
