MMPOW_Judge 0 Posted January 22, 2002 Originally had this running on an Athlon 800/Windows 98se and had no problems. Â Upgraded the computer and now having tons of warping in multiplayer. Â When I hosted no one would have problems, ran perfectly. Â Now that I'm on this new system people see warping, folks running in place, and extreme lag (5+ seconds before a guy dies) when things look ok on the menu (ping about 300-400ms). Any reason this is going on? Â This is basically the only game the clan plays anymore and unfortunate that we can't get it running. Â Single player runs fine as does the other games I have installed (FS2002, etc). Â XP 1800 512MB Crucial pc2100 (2x256) Dragon + Geforce 3 Ti200 431 Power supply XP pro So there is no problem hardware wise that would be causing a problem (I wouldn't think), and everything else runs fine. Â I've changed compatibility mode to 98se and still the same results. Â The firewall is turned off. Â The 20% reserve has also been disabled. Â I can give a full system rundown if you folks want it. Â It's connected to another pc (nic to nic) but even unplugged and not seeing anything else we have the same problem. Â Nothing has changed except for the rig and o/s. Â Any ideas? Â It's weird cause pings are the same as they were, just tons of warping now. Â Thanks, I'm completely out of ideas. Edit: Btw I'm on cable, the pings are high due to the location of the other folks, it's always been like this and not the cause of the warping all of a sudden. rekrul 7 Posted January 22, 2002 I've had warping, or teleporting as I call, for a long time. It's espicially obvious when you're sitting in a jeep or other fast moving vehicle driven by human players. The jeep will swirl off the road, then you're back on, then off again, etc while this is just either not enough packets sent from server, or recieved/handled by the client. I wouldn't call it prediction code, but the client assumes that when it got the last packet, you were going e.g. 45mp/h and 270 degrees it will continue to do that until the next packet is in. This can be a matter of network latency (ping), packetloss, OFP netcode, or a combination. One step would be to try and tweak the server settings wich isn't that intuiative. As of the reason or your degrade in performance, I have no idea. -Rekrul
DeeZee_UK 0 Posted January 22, 2002 Our Squad has run a dozen different systems and each member has his best setup. We been playing without computer/connection probs for ages....... Until 1.42. Suddenly the lag became virtually unplayable I.E. dozen bullets in Enemy AI but he still kills u cause of lag. So we all reverted back to 1.40 - after all 1.42 has resolved nothing (repeated messages), only made things worse. FART Squad
