Strange problem with textures

Recommended Posts

I modelled myself a weapon. I even got it textured. Now, everything is cool in O2 but as soon as I put a simple config for it and pack it all together for OFP, all textures are ... gone. Where? I don't know.

I checked again in O2 the texture paths with an "E" key and it's there. I remapped it and again, nothing.

I tried TGA, Pac, Paa, different packing apps.

Help would be appreciated with a case of beer to follow it. banghead.gif

Ok, I got it solved.

Now other strange things happen.

I painted textures and have them in TGA 32. All square in 2x style as needed.

The problem is O2 accepts only TGA and convets it to paa which comes out to be crap.

I tried converting with texview, paatool, Pantool all were rejected by O2. None of the textures that were converted by those three apps were accepted by O2.

Is there some kind of mystery behand this or what?

Anyone care to explain just what the hell is happening?

Any ideas?

Well, seeing as non of the programs you have tried fixed the problem I suspect it is not the programs that it doing something wrong, but you. Are you sure that you installed O2 & Bulldozer correctly? Have you had this problem before on other models?

Well, those program are too simple to make a mistake. Open and save. What could go wrong there?

I installed it according to tut on how to do that.

I checked sth.

O2 loads paa files from "data\" folder but not from addon folder.

But textures should be in the addon folder, right?

Ok, I reinstalled O2 doing everything I was not supposed to do and it worked.

So much for tutorials.

Thanks anyway.

Intuition often pays off more then tutorials do. Also, reinstalling O2 and cleaning up the "workplace" (folders where models, textures etc are located) once in a while keeps things clean and working.

And PAATool too easy? Well, sometimes it goes berzerk when I try to convert a tga with it (totally at random, can be any size or type, sometimes it just freezes up).
