xanos 0 Posted March 14, 2006 What have I done wrong when I host a dedicated server from pc with a connection to internet without a router and it doesn't show up in the server list. My firewall program and virus protection allows all ports and everything and the server doesn't show up in the list! If I connect with ip (remote) I can join to server and everything works just fine but nobody comes to play with me because they can't see the server in the list! BTW: Server is at "online" just now, its name is [FD] Freedom Defenders Im getting fed up
j w 0 Posted March 14, 2006 Are you personally hosting the game (on the computer you also play on), or do you use another computer to be the server? If you're personally hosting the game, people must connect by LAN, setting an IP adress (to your server), wich they will connect on. If you're using another computer, have you configed the server correctly to show up in the serverlist?
xanos 0 Posted March 14, 2006 Im using another computer for hosting (Win XP) What do you mean by: Quote[/b] ]have you configed the server correctly to show up in the serverlist? You mean server.cfg? EDIT: Here it is: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> passwordAdmin = "---"; // password to protect admin access hostname="[FD] Freedom Defenders"; motd[]= { "Welcome [FD] Server", "Rules:", "Dont tk = Kick or Ban", "Dont cheat = Ban", }; // Welcome message motdInterval=5; voteThreshold=0.33; // when one third agrees, this is enough to confirm a vote reportingIP=""; // private server - no reporting voteMissionPlayers=3; // start voting when 3 players connect checkfiles[]={"HWTL\dta\data3d.pbo","dta\data3d.pbo"}; //list of files to check for identity kickduplicate=1; // do not allow duplicate id equalModRequired=1; // require equal mod
j w 0 Posted March 14, 2006 Yes. It could be that you didn't fill the .cfg-file out correctly, wich makes the server not displaying in the serverlist. You should be able to find an example server.cfg-file in this subforum, make a search for "How to set up a server", and you should find it. EDIT: An excellent guide can be found here. j w 0 Posted March 14, 2006 In the reporting IP, it should look like this: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">reportingIP="master.gamespy.com"; in order to get the server displayed in the serverlist. sicilian 0 Posted March 15, 2006 ... motd[]= { "Welcome [FD] Server", "Rules:", "Dont tk = Kick or Ban", "Dont cheat = Ban", };... a bit OT: Do you really mean what you typed??? If I do NOT cheat I got banned... If I do NO team kill I got kicked and banned... You shouldn't use a negation if you use a "="!
