burning_gun 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Hi I haven't played the game for some months, and now when I try to start a LAN server ( by pressing new ) it says "creating client" and stays like that for about a minute. When it shows the screen to choose the MP maps, it doesn't show my local player, it shows no players at all. I created a server on another computer, but the first computer doesn't show it on his list. I uninstall the game, and install it from the original disc ( ver. 1 ), and again, the same problem. Any other part of the game is working perfect except that. The game was working fine on this computer for about 2.5 years. Again, if I install the game on another computer, it works. burning_gun 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Thanks for your reply It seems that I forgot to mention my version, it's 1.46 How firewall is related to playing MP mission on a single computer? I don't have all the options you mention, except the port. I have a router, and it has a firewall on it, but I'm not trying to play on the internet. My operation system is win 2000, so no built in firewall on the network card. Please advice Yaniv

Please advice Yaniv Well when you try to start a server most likely it will still try to access the "outside" whether that be internet or LAN it still has to communicate with something, if it's trying to do that through the ports I listed above and is unable to that may well cause problems. burning_gun 0 Posted February 17, 2006 It seems that I managed to fix it. Thank you very much, you led me to the solution It was zone alarm I used it for a month when I was not behind a router, and then disabled it It seems it has an internet watcher, which stays running even if you disable zone alarm, and remove the registry keys to run it. And to think I wasted 5.5 hours last night on it, trying uninstalling and installing... Now it's working, and thanks again Yaniv Remember, the shoemaker always goes barefoot...
