j w 0 Posted March 4, 2006 Newer motherboards support all processors with the same socket. And also, go with SATA HDD's, IDE is just awful. And btw; On a budget? You buy a frikkin projector and flatscreen on budget??
EiZei 0 Posted March 4, 2006 And also, go with SATA HDD's, IDE is just awful. FYI, SATA is IDE as much as PATA. Anyhows, doubt PATA hard drive would slow things down too much. However, using one could mean potential compatibility problems (some SATA motherboards just seem to hate them) and recycling that old SATA hard drive will be much easier. You buy a frikkin projector and flatscreen on budget?? lol... No, i just didnt want to create a new thread, so I posted this in this thread And thanks for the feedback. Anyway, is the graphics-card allright? Or is it an overkill? I just need a decent one that plays armed assault, and has passive cooling. And for the CPU in a box-thingy... When it comes in a box, how do i attach a new cooler on top of it? Can i simply dis-attach the cooler that comes with the cpu? I just need a silent and working cooler. I will have plenty of flow in the cabinet, because of 3 cabinet-coolers. One 80mm intake and two smaller exhaus.
EiZei 0 Posted March 5, 2006 Quote[/b] ] just need a decent one that plays armed assault, and has passive cooling. How are we supposed to know if it's enough? Hell, i'd say we are lucky if ArmA comes out this year. If you are indeed buying a new computer just for ArmA, would'nt it make more sense to spare your money and get more for the same when (if?) it's released? Quote[/b] ]And for the CPU in a box-thingy... When it comes in a box, how do i attach a new cooler on top of it? Manuals are provided for a reason. Quote[/b] ]Can i simply dis-attach the cooler that comes with the cpu? Of course, but why get a more expensive boxed version then?
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted March 5, 2006 Well, its not just for arma... but i want something fast... Im also looking for "spore" which comes out this fall... I guess I dont need a boxed version then. Should I go for X2 cpu or not? What would you do?
j w 0 Posted March 5, 2006 The more money you have the greater processor you should get. The stronger you buy now, the longer you can have it before it's outdated. Oh, and don't buy SLI-cards, little overkill ATM, though go ahead and buy a MoBo that is SLI ready, so when many games is designed or support SLI-cards you can get a pair. Oh, and if you have alot of money, wich you seem to have; watercooling.
j w 0 Posted March 11, 2006 Are the 7300GS cards from Asus any good? Compared to Asus' X1300? Wich one to choose? (Both PCI-E)
EiZei 0 Posted March 12, 2006 As far as I know even a vanilla 6600 outperforms those.
