Mister Frag 0 Posted December 9, 2005 Check the firewall built into XP, it may be preventing the two systems from seeing each other. Run DXDIAG.EXE and go to the Network tab, then click "Test DirectPlay". Set up one system as the server, and try to join it from the second system. I would use DirectPlay for LAN games because of the VoIP feature. If you are playing on the Internet and/or use Sockets instead of DirectPlay, then the DXDIAG stuff is kinda pointless... Mister Frag 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Go to a command prompt (Start -> Run, enter CMD.EXE) and run IPCONFIG /ALL. Do both computers have a unique IP address that is on the same subnet (usually 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x)?

Mister Frag 0 Posted December 13, 2005 It would be nice if you could provide an explanation of the solution so that others with the same problem can benefit from it...
wenker 0 Posted December 13, 2005 to tell you the truth it was a ghost thing that was not letting it work. I have norton...so when you go to do anything that sends or imports information from anything it will ask you if you want to block it or permit. If you do not answer to the question it will just block it until you do. the thing that was wrong was that this window was not responding with ofp or the dxdiag. when norton senses that something is wrong it will unbridge your network and internet. so basically i had to bridge 2 connections, and permit all traffic for 5 minutes. once that 5 minutes comes up that window will pop up like it was in the first place, and then you permit ofp to lan with the 2 comps. is that specific enough? even though the help you gave me was had nothing to do with what was wrong. if you didnt give it to me i wouldnt of figured it out....make sense? either way THANKS DUDE!!!
