Hidden 0 Posted January 19, 2002 Please forgive me for bringing up a common problem, didn´t know what to search for. My system: Windows 2000 Professional, English, P3-700, 384MB SDRAM (133), 25GB WD 5400rpm disk, DVD tray, Midiman Audiophile 2496 soundcard with latest drivers, GeForce 256 Pro graphics card with Nvidia 12.41 driver. This is what happens: Only minutes into the game, the picture is replaced by a green color and the sound stutter like "Brrripipipipip" (difficult to explain, you should hear it), then all I can do is Ctrl+Alt+Del and shut down OFP and restart. 2 recent Win2k re-installs, all necessary and new drivers, this never happened before, I think it happened after the first of the most recent OS re-installs, then again after the second. Am not sure whether I have installed VIA 4-1 after the second re-install, will try it. Have Win2k SP 2 and necessary updates from Windows Update. This is really killing the fun of playing OFP (literally), anyone else experiencing this kind of problems? If so, what did you do to fix it? Regards Hidden PS* I just checked Windows Update, have forgotten the updates since the latest Win2k re-install.. am downloading now, to see if any of the updates can fix my problem. Diniter 0 Posted January 19, 2002 That's not good. I've encountered that before a couple of times. I think it's heat related. Double check the fans inside your computer. If I think up something else I'll let you know here ASAP. After a while computer problems start looking like each other, you know.
Hidden 0 Posted January 25, 2002 Thanks for your input. If it really is a heat issue, I must have done something terribly wrong when replacing the cooling fan on the graphics card, the system temperature in general seems fine. I used the white stuff that came with the Blue Orb (removed the old first of course). Hidden
