Alvis Stalwart

Recommended Posts

Surprised this has so far only been mentioned in passing, over on the Everon thread.

Markypea has released a 443kb .pbo of the Alvis Stalwart, a 1960s British amphibious resupply vehicle.  It was part of a family of 6-wheelers which included the Saladin armoured car, Saracen APC and Salamander fire-fighting vehicle.

After a quick go I have only a few comments:

The authors bug-note about collision detection is appropriate, but can be lived with.

The textures along the vehicle sides are lovely, but don't match the cab-front or -roof.  The floor of the load-bay seems very plain indeed.

Having been a willing passenger in these many times as an Army Cadet, I can vouch that Markypea's model sits EXTREMELY high in the water - usual freeboard (from memory) was only around 40-50 cms.

Civvy reg on the front - minor nitpicking observation.

All-in-all, a very nice addition to the ever-expanding UK model base in OFP.

Man this is the sweetest truck roaming around in OFP since PCW's Unimog!! The wheels aren't 100% vertical though so being an amphib truck it's completely "ducky"!!! Absolutely cool!! thumbs-up.gif
