Discalc by DKM

Hi,

I've been trying to find DKM's Discalc, the MoA -> OFP Dispersion calculator, but now that their website is down I can't find it anywhere.

Does anyone have a copy they could send to me please? Many thanks thumbs-up.gif

Meanwhile, could someone tell me if I've got the formula right please?

Here goes:

Base figures:

1 MOA is 1.047 inches at 100yards

Check: 1 MOA is 2.094 inches at 200yards

Thus:

1 MOA at 100m: 1.047inches x 1.09361 = 1.14500967 inches

1 MOA at 200m: 2.094inches x 1.09361 = 2.29001934 inches

Into millimetres:

1MOA at 100m: 1.14500967 x 25.4 = 29.08mm

1MOA at 200m: 2.29001934 x 25.4 = 58.17mm

Into meters for OFP:

1MOA at 100m: 29.08 / 1000 = 0.02908 meters

1MOA at 200m: 58.17 / 1000 = 0.05817 meters

In OFP config terms:

Dispersion = dispersion in meters / distance in meters

Thus 0.02908 / 100 = 0.0002908

Thus 0.05817 / 200 = 0.0002908

Thus for a rifle rated at 1MOA accuracy, dispersion=0.0002908; huh.gif

it looks too low to be honest (too accurate) - i think our SA80's are somewhere around 0.0015

Hiya mate,

I think the UKF SA80s use the JAM_W556_30mag (.0002 / .01 HD), and the L86 uses JAM_W556_L86_30mag (.00018 / .075 HD).

The more I look around at different dispersions, the more confusing it gets. King Homer has his SR25 and M82 set down to .000005, and also increased the M82's initspeed by about 60% to get a really flat long range trajectory.

This handles great in-game, but applying the formula to the 7.62 mags might not be appropriate, as they're only effective out to 800-1000m IRL whereas the M82 is effective to 1800m.

yeah... sorry, i missed a 0 and wasnt really looking at things propwely. The system of calculations you've outlined seems logical... i'll try it out a little my end to see effects. But from what i see you've written, it looks good.

I have a copy of it laying around that I can give you. If I remember correctly, your numbers look right to me.

I can also send you a copy of the moa calculator aswell.

Edit: Well, I almost thought that I lost the file. I deleted an old ofp directory a few weeks ago, and with it went the discalc exe. Lucky for you, I still had the vb project files laying around.

He is talking about one moa, which probably isn't what the average sa80 shoots. 1moa is considered quite good accuracy. The USMC M40A3 commonly does around .5 moa I believe, that is considered superb accuracy. There are rifles that do as good or better, but you can't expect to get below .25 moa, that is extremely good accuracy. I believe the combat standard is around 4 moa or less.
