Guest The Cobra Posted August 9, 2005 Is it me confusing the two; You can't set up a hostingserver from your own computer if you sit behind a router, and is this also the case with a real server, or doesn't it matter? hoot 0 Posted August 9, 2005 why not?! nat is your friend. just forward the ofpserver port you have set in the ofpserver configfile to you machine. step one: --------- setup your ofpserver and edit its configurationfile to edit the port you want the ofpserver is listen to. step two: --------- get the machines ip. step three: ----------- access to your router (in most cases its a webinterface nowdays) and forward the port (set in the configurationfile) to the machines' ip on which the ofpserver is running. step four: --------- forward a second port to be listed in the ingamebrowsers (gamespy etc.). so if you have set the ofpserver port in the configfile to 2323, your second port has to be 2324! (ofpserverport+1) step five: --------- apply the settings and start the ofp server. grab the all seeing eye or whatever and hopefully you'll see your server listed. i hope this helps...
