CJE 0 Posted July 7, 2005 Hooah! Good news. But, I think Chirac was wrong to insult british cuisine, even if it was a joke. And, they should have been a bit better hiding their angriness Wow, if Britain had lost, they'd be saying "Congratulations France, etc" But the french now are really pissed. What Im saying is, it's silly to create such feelings with this. Also, I dont think anyone has noticed, but, the timing of this is soooo ironic. We all mumble about poverty and live8, well havent we noticed that the olympics wastes billions of pounds? Building new faciliies and stadiums etc. What a waste of money! Jesus, it just shows how all of us have Double Standards. Here endeth my ranting and raving.
HotShot 0 Posted July 7, 2005 Feel sorry that Paris lost it after attempting to host it 2 or 3 times before (?), but its good that London has got it in that it will mean new sporting facilities and regeneration for it, where as Paris has already (although i realise only partially) had this happen in an attempt to win the past bids. Winters 1 Posted July 7, 2005 While it would have been nice to see Olympic Baseball being played at Yankee Stadium and Basketball at Madison Square Garden. NYC never really wanted the Olympics to begin with, they tried to ram a midtown stadium down the throats when all along everyone knew that stadium was meant to get the Jets back in manhattan and to have the Super Bowl played there every few years. When they realized (NYC2012 commitee) that the midtown stadium was not going to pass they hastily drew up plans for the expansion of shea stadium and to use that instead. I am happy for the UK and glad that will now inherit the security nightmare that NYC would have had to deal with on top of the already beefed-up presence in the city.
