Corben Dallas 0 Posted June 17, 2005 Why is OFP Ancient Japan - wars of a different kind, but still war - not acceptable here? Or is it the idea of offering a cash prize for someone who produces good work? Hmmm... OFP is war in general. BIS charge money for their time, expertise and hard work. I'm happy to pay someone else for their time, expertise and hard work. So what, eaxactly, is wrong..?

D.murphy man 0 Posted June 17, 2005 Well prepare to get your self baned or very seriously warned he he first one to use that emotion for a good perpose I belive that making profit from making an addon to a game is illigal. And in this case, the guy who making the addon would be profiting from it by yoy paying him.. Although im not legal expert Edit: @ rabbit:He made this post in response to his earlyer topic being locked my a moderator.
Corben Dallas 0 Posted June 17, 2005 Ok, so maybe I should remove the 'prize' and all would be ok? I genuinely just want someone who knows what they're doing to create a couple of characters that have decent anims using sticks and swords, then the rest is relatively easy. I don't mind paying someone for their time in doing so, hence the 'prize'. If it offends BIS or breaks some rules then I'll let it go, but I didn't think it was such an issue. After all, every time you drive your car, do you pay the manufacturer, or tell people you can't give them a lift because only you paid for the car? Honestly, life is getting silly... Edit: Further, if you spend time creating and editing something, and someone pays you for your time, what does it matter how you did it? Again, do you pay Black & Decker every time you trim your bush..?
ebns72 0 Posted June 17, 2005 click as said above, making a profit from free software I think is illegal. there were some samurai dudes done (see above link) but you could pretty easily modify these guys to get what you want if you are making an ancient japan mod. hellfish6 7 Posted June 17, 2005 Yes, offering money for addons is illegal. Samurais are not.
Major Fubar 0 Posted June 17, 2005 Your thread was locked because paying for addons is considered questionable legal ground. The thread wasn't locked for any other reason - if you want to request these addons wihtout the "cash incentive" feel free to do so. You aren't being singled out, it is general policy for these forums. Also, for future reference, if you have a query about why a thread was locked, please contact a moderator via PM rather than creating another thread- the forums rules state that moderation decisions are not open for public discussion.
