need help with alpha images

Recommended Posts

I dont know too much about textures, but I do know what im dealing with is an alpha image.  What im trying to do is edit this one addon to take off a country's insignia that is on it.  I have paatool11, texview, pantool, and photodraw and I couldnt find a way to edit this texture through those programs.  When I view it in texview and pantool I can choose an option to view the image's transparent picture that is hidden but when I view it in microsoft photodraw it only gives me a black image which doesnt let me view the transparent image in it.  I just wanted to fill in the insignia texture with the backround color of the addon so it will not be visible.

Can anyone help me with this?  If you need more info just ask.

edit: I have also already tried replacing the whole image with the backround texture of the vehicle, but when I do that it covers up another texture on the addon which makes it look very ugly.  So I need to find some way to edit just the transparent alpha image that is the whole image without messing up the backround of it.

well if I do that, it leaves a big white space on it.

But ill try those other things you mentioned.

edit: Actually if you mean by opening the p3d up in oxygen_light, I wouldnt be able to do that because whenever I open that program up it gives me an error "unable to open external viewer" and when I tried to opent the p3d it said "unable to load file. Load Error."

edit: hey rabbit, after I played around with thoes things you mentioned, I finally got it to work. Thx for helping.
