Nuku 0 Posted October 21, 2001 As a host/client, I can press 'P' and get the netstats of all the players connected to my machine. I'm trying to understand what these statistics mean, and what are "good" numbers. There are 3 numbers for "Ping" (fastest/average/worst) I guess? Units are milliseconds? Also 3 numbers for "Bandwidth". I have no idea what those are, or even what units those are in. Is that used bandwidth, available bandwidth, data going or data coming? And "Desync". I don't know what this means either, or what units it's in. Anyone care to enlighten me?
RN Malboeuf 12 Posted October 21, 2001 I ofr once have no clue the Ping is easy, and I do net working, even I'm at a loss as to the extent of the numbers
Mister Frag 0 Posted October 22, 2001 I think the Dedicated Server FAQ might have the answer. There are some new settings in Flashpoint.cfg in V1.27 that are explained in the FAQ, and it seems that the last two numbers in the player information screen are the results of the bandwidth estimation. The first number might be MaxMsgSend. And anyone wondering how people find their private servers through Gamespy should take a look at the reportingIP command.
