Shabadu 0 Posted January 15, 2002 Is it just me or is a game that's all about realism that doesn't include openable doors just not very realistic, I mean could they just not be bothered to write the code, just like the dodgy water? Most games include this basic function why not the so-called realistic ofp?
Damage Inc 0 Posted January 15, 2002 I don't care about if a game doesn't have openable doors as long as it's fun to play.
Shabadu 0 Posted January 15, 2002 Fair enough but is it much to ask? Hopefully this is sorted in ofp2 but why wasn't it included? I would certainly have more fun hiding in buildings if it meant I could go in and close the door behind me. Some of the coolest buildings don't have an open door either. Satchel 0 Posted January 15, 2002 Hmm before adding doors i would rather like to see multi room, multi level buildings with large interiors after all clipping problems had been solved, so that inhouse missions become possible. When this is possible, yeah doors make sense.
Placebo 29 Posted January 15, 2002 I really don't think the aim of Opf was to have the lil things like that, IMO the aim was to simulate open warfare on a grand scale, which I believe they've done a bloody good job of doing Yes of course it would be nice to have enemy compounds, underground bunkers, perhaps even office blocks and such like, but for now those are just dreams, dreams which perhaps if we're lucky could become reality in a sequel
Damage Inc 0 Posted January 15, 2002 Office blocks and other similar things don't really suit OFP, they suit games like Counter-Strike much better. I'd like some bunkers though.
Shabadu 0 Posted January 15, 2002 But it can't exactly be hard to make a code that makes a solid object move or short distance can it? I know the game acheived it's goals but doors are a basic part of the real world, it's not realism if you're not trying to simulate real life. Now people will say 'oh well if we're going to be realistic lets include food, drink and sex' but seriously it would have been cool to run and hide in a civilian town but not have to go and crouch behind a wall but set up your LAW at thee window and blow the crap out of the enemy who come blundering up the hill behind you. Every serious military game should have a nice blend of indoor and outdoor fighting, at least the possibility to conduct some missions indoor. Keeping fingers crossed as i see this a major weekpoint for now, that lets you play other games than OFP for the indoor aspect.
Shabadu 0 Posted January 15, 2002 I'm not saying there has to be indoor missions just the opportunity to go indoors. It would open up a range of tactics into the game for a start.
Placebo 29 Posted January 15, 2002 Ok when I said office blocks I mean something more along the lines of, an abandoned building in a town that the enemy are holed up in, partly bombed out, some parts intact, you get sent in to sweep out any remaining enemy so that your company can use the town as a base, things like that
