Smooth{MEOW} 0 Posted March 1, 2005 Hi guys. First of all I am posting this only after reading through several tech topics and guides for OFP. But I'm still having some difficulties. Sometimes the FPS drops below 10, other times its stable around 15-20. All depends on whats in the map as you know. Here's my specs and .cfg's. Please no "buy a new computer" replies, thats not an option at this time for me. Although I plan to upgrade within this year. I'm just looking for suggestions that might help out here until I can. P3 1.0 Ghz 512 Mb SDRAM GF 5200 256Mb PCI 56.72 Drivers (no agp slot on board) USB 80 gig 7200 rpm hd (running OFP on this drive, no room on my internal drive) Win XP Soundblaster 16 bit PCI I keep it clean of spyware and viruses. Up to date BIOS. It made my framerate more stable and may have slightly increased it. AA, AF, V-sync are all off. 800x600x32, 100 Hertz. My main problem is FPS. I get a little "jerkyness" every now and then but I can live with it. It's a slow rig, but I need to make it work for the time being. Thanks in advance! -Ash- 0 Posted March 1, 2005 P3 1.0 Ghz ? Sounds like you have a major bottleneck with your graphics card and ram mate..
Smooth{MEOW} 0 Posted March 1, 2005 I know, believe me, that will be the first thing to go once I get some $$$ this summer.
sanctuary 19 Posted March 1, 2005 The only suggestion i can have to lower the CPU work is to lower the viewdistance from the 1000 you have to 900 or 800 , that should help you to put higher number of objects without adding more charge (try 200 instead of 140 with a lower viewdistance) to your system
