guttersnipe 1 Posted January 28, 2005 Hi & usual apologies if this is a silly question. Here's the problem, all suggestions appreciated. I have two PC's sharing an internet connection. I've tried to connect to an online game with both PC's without much success. I'd like to host a game on one of my own PC's such that a mate can join us via the Internet connection, and one via the LAN. a) is this possible? b) do i use the local IP address to connect the PC on the LAN so it doesn't try and connect via the internet connection? ie if I enter eg 255.255.255.1 (or similar) into the 'remote' panel of the Join game option will this connect me directly. Crikey that sounds like waffle to me but if anyone can help..
benu 1 Posted January 28, 2005 If you host on your lan you need port forwarding (if you are connected to the internet with a router), so both the players from the lan and those from the internet should be able to use the internet ip. If your server is the one connected to the internet things may be more complicated, especially if you don't have a good routing software installed (ics does not qualify). In short i would say that with a good router (eg a linux computer acting as router) this should all be possible.
