iNeo 0 Posted January 21, 2005 I've got 4 satellite speakers and I just noticed that winamp only plays on the center speaker and the front & rear right speakers, not the left ones. WMP plays on all speakers and so does all other sounds. I checked Winamp preferences but I couldn't find anything. Anyone know of anything that might help? iNeo 0 Posted January 21, 2005 I found this: http://www.winamp.com/player/faq[/url])]Does Winamp support Surround Sound in 4.1 or 5.1 outputs? No, Winamp 5 currently does not support any form of Surround Sound. You may download third party Winamp Plug-ins that enable this in our Plug-ins section.
iNeo 0 Posted January 21, 2005 If anyone else wants to use all their speakers with Winamp: Use this plug-in. Just run the install and then launch Winamp
SpongeBob 0 Posted January 21, 2005 Do I need Winamp 5 for it to work, cause I still winamp 3 and all this does is open a notepad document, can't hear a difference.
iNeo 0 Posted January 21, 2005 I don't know, I'm using 5. Why don't you upgrade? The sound from Winamp only comes from two of your surround speakers?
SpongeBob 0 Posted January 21, 2005 I just checked, it comes from 4 speakers, not my center but the 4 others. I tried winamp 5, I like the way my playlists and songs were shown in 3 better.
shinRaiden 0 Posted January 21, 2005 I play the plain stereo out of Winamp through my nForce2 Soundstorm, do any EQ and upmix it to 6 channels, then SPIDF it out in Dolby Digital AC-3 into my SB Audigy2 Platinum set for AC-3 pass-through. That cuts out all the analog noise that invariablely comes through mobo audio systems, and also cuts the CPU hits I'd get if I ran the effects in Winamp or on the Audigy2. Could be it only works with 5 then, but at least you don't get the sound from just one side like I did before installing the plug-in. With 5 you can press J for Jump and you get a list of all your songs in a window, and you can type any letters that are in the file's name, it's info or the name of the folder it's in, and it will filter. Then you just hit Enter and it plays it. Or alt+Q to enque it. 3 doesn't have that, does it? I couldn't do without it.
