Dr. Lah 0 Posted January 13, 2005 As I don't know how to use oxygen (is to complicated for me), but I would like to have some units for my use, I got an idea. What if somebody makes a human model (simple one, like civilian) with posibility to put on it random textures with set texture command in init field (like patches on sleeves, but this one would cover entire body). One jpg. picture would be used for torso, second for legs, etc. So almost everybody could make different units, and you could combine clothes in one unit, enabling you to make almost anything. Is this possible to make? I guess it won't be hard for experienced addon maker and would help a lot to simple mortals as I am.
BraTTy 0 Posted January 13, 2005 Mainly because using hidden selections cancels out built-in things like damage textures otherwise we could have a model and be able to change clothes ingame like hitman
Dr. Lah 0 Posted January 13, 2005 OK, such addon would not be perfect, but you could make an unit, which otherwise no addon maker would do. There are many addons out that don't have damage textures. I am ready to accept this and I guess many other people would do the same.
BraTTy 0 Posted January 14, 2005 So to answer your question, yes it can be done. And surely has been implemented to some extent with addons with belts and backpacks of sorts. And possibly exactly as you request. Even if it isn't,it's not as hard as you think. If I can do it you can.Like I read in recent post (philcommando I think, sorry if I am wrong) saying how even the ones that are skilled spent time to learn. If you have some time you can learn too. This site has most all the tools needed: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/breathe/ Demo models are there including a man and you can look at them for yourself. Its better for us to help teach a new addonmaker rather than just doing it (feed a boy a fish you fed him a meal, teach him to fish you fed him for life).Plenty of people here to help you. So far with what you want to do you ,your mainly looking at naming some selections and some config work, then the scripting for the texture swapping.Sounds like you don't have to do any actual modelling yet.Its a good starter project. Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted January 14, 2005 Didn't the random rebel civilian of the BAS Tango pack (tonal opfor) use the sam method?? I think it works just like that, only without the possibility to implement your own textures.
crassus 0 Posted January 14, 2005 I'm sorry to hijack your thread..... I'm still scouring both this and OFPEC's Forum for the exact thread, but I recall someone was able to script in-game texture changes (clothing combinations, etc.)....and he had a video of it. Anyone recall who put that together?
Dr. Lah 0 Posted January 14, 2005 BrattY! Thanks for your advice! I will download sample models and try to figure out how it works. My idea is based on old game Age of Rifles, where you had in editor different parts of uniform and you could combine and make any unit. If I would have some different models with changeable textures, would be possible to create modern and historical units, different civilians, etc. just with drawings in paint shop or similar programmes. Then we would need only a horse and some effective hand to hand combat weapons to play Flashpoint in any period of past, presence or future. I hope I will manage to do something
