Stuff 0 Posted July 27, 2004 Well mission making is going better and better, only the problem is...I never finish any of my missions. So please help me by giving me some ideas of missions that you like so I can make them. Most of the time I make Spec Op missions or that you have to play an secret agent only armed with an handgun. Only I can't make up any storÃes. So write me a sory for a mission and I'll try making it.
BoweryBaker 0 Posted July 28, 2004 Okay. It's the communist country of Mungari. Right off of the southeast coast of Africa a few hundred miles out. They're opposed to the United States freedoms. Not even so much as a U.S. embassy is allowed there, however there are American born citizens staying there doing missionary work for the poor, spreading the gospel and feeding the children. They too are in danger of the militias and rebels that go about terrorizing the people of Mungari, cutting off limbs, raping women and children, kidnapping and killing men. Do they want to leave? No. In there eyes there is much work to be done. Can they leave if they wanted to? No. The rebels are shooting down commercial airlines, something which forces the government to mobilize in the morning due to a lack of night vision equipment. What about by boat? Not to America, but perhaps to another nation on the coast of Africa such as South Africa. The United States has an aircraft carrier on the west side of Africa with a small covert team of SEALs ready to deploy. Their mission: sneak into Mungari at night by helicopter and evacuate the American citizens before sunrise, exactly five hours from the time of insertion. Why not send in undercover CIA agents? The danger level of this mission requires a team of military operators armed to the teeth able to remain undetected behind enemy lines in marine environments for unknown periods of time. The extreme covert nature of this mission means that they cannot risked being spotted by Mungari government agents. Little do the SEALs know, that their pilots orders are that if they are spotted he is to leave the island prematurely of mission success, and the SEALs will be given orders to go into hiding and seek another means of escape so after every firefight they must make extra precaution to get as far away from the area as possible using any means necessary to maintain covertness for when the government comes to investigate. If they fail, the American citizens there may very well die as others have before them. It's kinda like tears of the sun but different. Edit: it's a campaign I thought up but haven't quite found the right units to use for it yet. Waiting for some good SEALs units to come out, don't want to use KMM international infantry. Stuff 0 Posted July 28, 2004 Did you allready started working on it?
GI_Rutger 0 Posted July 28, 2004 Spec-op missions aren't original, we've had enough blow up en clean sweep for three years. These ideas may help you: 1) A mission were you have to find a Russian UAV camp. Give the coordinates via SANLA, so they can bomb it. After each UAV is blown up, you have go to the pick up point. There are Russians patrolling through the area, to find you, and when you come to the pick up point, HQ says that they don't want to risk a helicopter to get shot down. So you have to sneak to a village, steal a car, or find a resistance camp. You have to return to you own lines, on the other side of the island. FDF recommended. BoweryBaker 0 Posted July 28, 2004 Stuff I haven't already started working on it. Some opinions do not matter, but everyone has one. Edit: My opinion is that every mission is original. Combat methods have not changed, its the same basics no matter how high tech you get. The story, the setting, the atmosphere, the enemy, all these things can be changed for a different experience every time. I found that statement about spec ops missions being unoriginal very....false, or not well thought out before it was typed in. Maybe you mean that you don't like spec ops missions, but i ask you, who do you think would lase or target a convoy to be destroyed? Regular infantry? You know what I think. lol. Maximus-Sniper 0 Posted August 4, 2004 Hei Well, i like some Sniper mission, Big and fun. Not a mission with just kill one, but a big one, with lots of targets.
deathsai 0 Posted August 4, 2004 What do we need more of? We need more missions with big battles, and company sized forces engaging each other, and you are just a poor grunt stuck in the middle. There's too many one squad missions. PMC Fury I believe it was got a few good battles, but most of it was city fighting, which is horrible in OFP. Make some massive battles in FDF, FDF is really fun compared to original OFP IMO (because of the great recoil system and the better weapon sounds). Just make a bunch of groups, airplanes, helicotpers, tanks, and a crapload of infantry and give them some waypoints heading towards each other, then watch the fireworks. Then add scripts, twists and turns and whatnot, ambushes, etc. Maybe a company hike from one town to another through Everon's countryside? With snipers everywhere, suicidal Russian squads charging you, all until you reach your objective or you are attacked by a company of Russians, etc. If you don't like that, then make some missions with those lovely Littlebirds doing gun runs on African militia. I forgot which Little Bird it is, the one with the miniguns. Those mini-guns are soooo fun. But there are so few missions, its all Apaches (which are damned cool but still) and Cobras. AH-60 missions and UH-60 missions would be nice, where your objective is to ferry troops to the front and carry troops to the rear. You could do a Vietnam setting with Hueys, too. Stuff 0 Posted August 4, 2004 I started working on a littlebird mission, it uses all bas Tonal addons. Only I didn't finish it, and also I think i deleted it. Maybe I can make a new one but now I have my vacation. But tell me more how you like the mission. 1. You are dropped out of the chopper as ground force. (Delta/Ranger). And you're supported by Little Bird. 2. You support a Delta/Ranger squad as leader of 2 littleBirds. 3. Just little Birds, no ground forces at all. Also I read you guys liked the FinMod. I also like, maybe I can work out the UAV mission, doesn't sounds that hard to create. I will start working on it after my vacation. It's like 30C. so you won't find me inside the house. . BoweryBaker 0 Posted August 4, 2004 I'm currently working on one cool cool mission. Its a special forces mission where you are in a boat and you're heading up river. Modern weaponry. Along your journey to take part in a simple operation things go wrong and there are many challenges. That's all im going to say for now, but when its released you'll see. I went about this mission by thinking up movie scenes, what would be intense and what not. I got some really really good things happening here that I think noone has ever thought of doing before. -=BT=- Matty R 0 Posted August 4, 2004 why dont join a mission team Joint-Command - ToW-JC Then that way you get pushed to finish ya missions and you also get help from other members...
deathsai 0 Posted August 4, 2004 That website looks dead...The forums have only 10 topics or so on them.
BoweryBaker 0 Posted August 10, 2004 The cool thing about being in TOW joint command is that they actually listen to your ideas. It's not like one guy plays king and you make whatever he tells you to. Now, ive been in other groups and they operate liek that. Another thing is, TOW: JC also keeps in constant contact with each other via msn messenger. But back on topic, my favorite missions use ambience such as sound and third party addons to achieve extra believability. Clever use of scripts to make everything seem like real life. People going about, cars on roads, if in a third world country perhaps a radio playing with people talking around it. People talking at a market. Stuff that goes in accordance with a good island like mungari. When you got nogova the best ambiance you can do is maybe cars and buses but when you get third world, you got cars, buses and the many busy people trying to make a living. It's very cool. I'm trying to see if someone takes to the idea of my realistic radio man script as well as the birds script. Ambience like this makes everything more challenging. Birds give away your position and if your radio man dies you must pick it up to hear your orders and stay in contact. So I'm trying to use scripts to make the game more realistic. I think missions needs to go more in this direction with uber ambience, its the only direction we can go is uber ambience. With the photo realistic textures, real sounds, and values and physics, all thats left is the ambience of putting together whats been made out there to create a real world. A work of art. So editing is an art to me. Its like directing a movie. Will you use detail and have the player not only have fun but also an engaging and challenging experience or do you want a B movie where stuff just blows up for a quick fix? PLRSniper 3 Posted August 10, 2004 I like massive missions where you have to travel great distances and really FEEL the fear of dying after around 30 minutes of gameplay... Dont forget about a good story! Example story: It's just an ordinary day with some small exercises at a base 3 clicks from the frontline... The enemy forces are at a calm cease fire but it's not official. Everything has been calm for 2 months and no reports have been made that enemy forces are building up an attack. You exercise for about 5 minutes and then a Jeep pulls up and Sergeant "Badass" steps out telling you that you got patrol duty in a small village, this village is not important at all and nothing will happen for a random ammount of minutes but then a civilian truck pulls up from a small road. The guard at the roadblock check's the drivers papers and the trucks cargo... The driver doesn't have any papers and is placed in arrest. Nothing more to that but in fact this truck is a decoy for troop movement in the treeline, 2 - 4 enemy "scouts" etc is monitoring the village, maybe a sniper is ready to take out the road guard... A shot is fired and your commander reports and calls for reinforcements. All enemy units move away into the woods. Nothing more to that, tension is building up as the player dont get what is going on. This attack that took place is ANOTHER decoy to loose focus of other parts of the landscape but what the player dont know is that a larger force of enemies is standing by to attack the village. But this attacking force will attack after the player is ordered to drive back to base and collect some documents that the officer forgot. Â On route the jeep's engine breaks down and you dont have a radio... Â Time to walk about one click and when you arrive there is TOTAL MESS... You get dragged into action without ever knowing what is going on and all the suddently you are in a 5 Ton Truck that is ambushed and massive losses occur and you retreat and regroup with a disoriented and paniced group of soldiers... You overhear an radio transmission that tells about MASSIVE attacks on several fronts including the village you currently where deployed... Â "All forces........major.......units dead......artillery...............need reiforcements...............request........................BEEING OVERRUN!...............<Continued silence>" You dont know where to go and a enemy helicopter forces you to hit the dirt... Â Â 2 BMP's and 4 T80's pass the road where your truck got smashed and you hear enemy soldiers calling about 400 meters and dogs barking... TIME TO RUN... Â Â You dont know exactly where you are but you need to leave the area FAST... You and the soldiers run until you find a nearby road... You hear a truck and hides in the "ditch" but realises that it's a friendly truck. The driver picks you up and you then arrive at another village with more soldiers, some wounded, some dead... You are left in blind not knowing where you are... Time to move again... Â Â Several trucks are moving out to better fortifications... The convoy halts at a camp and you are ordered to drive an empty truck and to pick up some units that is stuck near some hot action. Â But they arent at the designated point and you get out to find out if they are nearby... "BOOM" That truck blows and you hear Tanks coming... You hide in the woods knowing that tanks dont "normally" enter treefilled areas... Stuck again... You meet up with the troops you where supposed to pick up... Â Â Â The have engages in some heavy fighting and against the odds they actually defeated a large force of enemy infantry... You once again overhear a radio transmission... Â This time clear as water! "ALL FORCES FALL BACK TO <TOWN> FOR IMMEDIATE EVAC" "ALL FORCES FALL BACK TO <TOWN> FOR IMMEDIATE EVAC" With no transport you dont expect to make it back... It looks like you are stuck here UNLESS you find some kind of transportation... Your only hope is to find a village and STEAL some enemy trucks and move right through the inferno! This could work because unsuspecting enemy forces cant see you in your "perfect" camoflage... But you need to kill all enemy units before they understand what your motives is... If the player is lucky he will run into other friendly forces and maybe a civillian with a shotgun etc to aid in any missions... FEAR AT IT's top when final... Sorry about any bad english... Tired... need sleep! Anyways... Â Big missions without saves... (Well maybe ONE save after all boring "foreplay") EDIT: One more thing. Linear gameplay sucks! Random wait times and random unit deployments is key to good replayability (In case of death etc)
Commando84 0 Posted August 11, 2004 I like missions that has custom islands because then you defitely don't know what to expect and everybody doesn't know the island from "top to toe" so its more fun that way because then you get that explore kind of feeling and you really don't got a clue whats coming up next. rarely make missions on the BIS islands anymore except for nogova and everon. I wish there where more custom islands out there that uses res buildings and used 3wx team addons and mapfact stuff and agent smith harbour stuff to a greater extent as it is now its like 10-20 islands only that uses all those fantastic object addons among many others, well it would be very cool if the regular ofp mission editor could edit some of the landmass and objects placements more so that you could have nogova but it would be more snowy in the mountains and harbour would be bigger and you didn't needed to download anything extra except for mission and eventual addons required to run mission
bsoldier 0 Posted August 14, 2004 hey i know what good mission you can create.... a RPG... you are be civvilian (cessena fun only addons not be more please!)
