The_Oakster 0 Posted July 6, 2004 I have a few questions about mod folders. 1) If an addon needs to be in the res/AddOns folder how does that work with mod folders. 2) When Ofp is first installed (GOTY) does it have any addons already? 3) Are mod folders worth it or is better to just keep on top of your addons by deleting non used or poo ones? theavonlady 2 Posted July 6, 2004 1) Usually addons work from mod folders, even when the addon's readme says it MUST be installed in OFP\RES\ADDONS. The only exception is island addon's animated cutscenes. Their folders must be placed in whichever folder the island addon maker hard-coded into the island's definitions. But that's trivial. 2) OFP's own addons are in OFP\RES\ADDONS. For customers running OFP V1.46 and below, the addons will be found in OFP\ADDONS. edit: mod folders are not available in OFP 1.46 and below. 3. Go for it! Don't mess up your original OFP folders. Create as many mod folders as you like, usually catgorizing them by subjects like WWII, VIETNAM, FDF, CSLA, BAS, etc.
The_Oakster 0 Posted July 6, 2004 What were the addons that came with the goty edition then so that i keep them and dont delete them thinking they are old ones i dont use. The reason i am asking is i am getting into editing now and i want a 'clean' version of ofp so that i can control what addons i am using rather than getting half way through a mission and realising i have lost track of what addons i've used and then having to skip between the mission.sqm trying to find them! @cero 0 Posted July 6, 2004 and allso, thanks to mod folders you can change the game as you like. If you have a look to the  OFP:Y2K3,War Games Add pack, FDF mod, CSLA mod, Realistic explosion MOD, etc, you will see that moding the configuration Bin and puting it in a mod folder can make the game look and feel very different. I been creating one for my personal use, replacing some of the BIS units with addons, so when I play the BIS campaigns instead of being a BIS Black op in a mission I will be one of Lasers Deltas, or if I'm gonna be playing as a infantry soldier I will be using one of the soldiers from the HYK Modern U.S. Army Infantry Pack instead of the BIS ones. The possibilitys are amazing. @CERO
