WhoCares 0 Posted June 25, 2004 I guess, Â this might be what you are looking for: Operation Iraqi Freedom [OIF] Lessons Learned / After Action Reports
Winters 1 Posted June 28, 2004 Thanks for the reply, i had already grabbed the 3rd ID PDF file. It's good but not exactly what i am looking for to help me develop some scenarios.
WhoCares 0 Posted June 28, 2004 I guess it's going to be difficult to find many official engagement type AARs on the web, except maybe if connected with special merrits, e.g. awarded with a medal. Did you read the Insight from a USMC First Sergeant on the War in Iraq? Interesting read... A bit OT, but maybe someone can explain me some terms from the document linked above: Quote[/b] ]"Stand to" morning and evening no matter what. Â Plan around these events if you can. <s>What's "Stand-to"?</s> Quote[/b] ]Use the LEATHENECK to let friendly units know when fire is outgoing. Â This really applies to mortars. Â Marines get really jumpy when mortars start going off. <s>What's a LEATHENECK?</s> Quote[/b] ]Short Count: Know what a "short count" is and demand you use them. But I don't know what 'short count' is - enlight me! And some funny quotes: Quote[/b] ][about reserves]..., even 5 trucks of HQ type guys with SAWS is better than nothing.... Marines get really jumpy when mortars start going off. Digging: Â No one has too much rank to dig. ... Talk to the Army. Â They do good things also. Edit: Found an explanation of several terms of the document above. Funnily enough, the explanations are directly linked to the document, as they are given by the CO of the 1st Sgt: Scroll down to the bottom
Winters 1 Posted June 28, 2004 Yeah, i read that, had a good laugh at some of his sayings. They are true though. "When in doubt, find a Corporal" lol i love that one. So true...
