My Opf:R Trailer

Recommended Posts

1) Stunning!

2) What's the name of that music track?

3) Exactly what video capture program did you use?

4) How'd you get the cool image-on-image transparency/fading effects?

P.S. Don't you think you went a just teeny, tiny bit over-board with the units? biggrin_o.gif

[Gareth Gates must die]

1. Indeed!

2. I'm Not Driving ANymore Instrumental and A song from Pirates of the Carribean

3. FRAPS

4. Crappy Windows media. Drag one video ontop the other and it auto fades for you

p.s. Hell no

Hello SpecOp9 just seen the movie and I personally think it`s pretty good.

I think that it has the potential to draw the attention of many people who aren`t initiated in Operation Flashpoint so it`s deffinetly a worthwhile project.

Here are my suggestions:

-Use Pappy`s OF2003 modification,it`s in the Ofp Updated thread,it has explosions, effects and changes all the units from OF with excelents ones from the community

-Use a Sky addon

While better graphics in the video is not a particular intrest of mine(playing OF 3 years will do that to you),using the above mods will deffinetly raise the bar of the quallity and make it even more intresting for those outside the community imo..

yes I agree with you fully.

The explosions are pretty interesting and I'll have a look into those. Originally I was going to use this ABSOLUTELY AMAZING effect program : Wondertouch: particleIllusion

Simply amazing work.

But of course, the price tag stops me from moving further with that program sad_o.gif

As for the skies : Of course I'll have skies, they are simply beautiful and make the game 100% more beautiful. Not to mention some of the very clever effects by Kegety's using the water. Will make for some very cinematic footage.

Also using a more diverse landscaped island. Scenery and props - this is a movie afterall.

yes, but also keep in mind that many high res things onscreen at once will lag, mostly with a video recording tool running.

However if I can get some video from Far Cry, and paste Flashpoint footage onto it, this should be cool.

(similar to the Flashpoint chase video)

and no Void, I have no idea what urr talkin about

Nahh..

It's the Soviet Ruskies...they want a swift attack tounge_o.gif

That scene is going to be completely re-done anyway..instead of it being a beach, it's going to be a port taking place at dawn.

Just about everything in that video will be completely remade, or not even used. I'm just trying to stir up some excitement, because looking for voice actors has been a more difficult task in itself.

similar to the Flashpoint chase video...

Speaking of which, does anyone have a copy of the 'big green box' and flat island used in the making of the quoted movie? I PM'd VerySolidSnake about it but got no response. I've been wanting to do a similar project to yours for a long time. Other than the excessive amount of hardware in some scenes (as mentioned), good work.

An option for a full screen video is you could output to a VCR and record it and then DivX it from the video.

edit: If you videocard supports TV out.

Head over to www.fansn.com and post a message on their forums.  Some guy named Chad might have it.

If not, I can make Islands so just ask...I'll make a big green box  tounge_o.gif

Definately.  I posted the video on Half Life 2 sites and Star Wars Galaxies forums...alot of people are interested in the game and the video  smile_o.gif

here are some photos of Hainan Island.  Absolutely gorgeous Island...and I do hope to re-create some of these photos ingame as accurately as possible.

Long story short, it's just a gorgeous Island.

Someone asked me what the Chinese/Japanese influence has to do on the story.  My goal was to search for an Island with a Chinese or Japanese culture, and bingo, I found the Hainan Island.  I'm sure you remember the gorgeous scenery from the James Bond film Tommorow Never Dies. (somewhat similar)

I'll be posting ingame screenshots in a different thread over time.  I hope you like the way everything is thus far smile_o.gif

Also I'm sorry to double post, but I was'nt allowed to make any more images, so I'll make a new post.

I have been working hard attempting to get a "Bump Map" effect in Operation Flashpoint.  I used gray-scale images to develop, what would appear to be a bumpy texture in Operation Flashpoint.

Operation Flashpoint does not support bump mapping as we all know, however there is definately ways around this.  Why they may not be Bump map,  I like to call it the Bump map effect.

The main problem is getting the texture to change depending on where you are standing, and the main light source, being the sun to change the lighting theme on the texture.  I am hoping I can make a transition texture that will change over the course of time as the sun floats over it.  Meaning the texture will change depending on the suns location.

If this does not work there are many other possible ways.

The image has a grayscale effect to quickly give it black and white properties (like all other Bump map textures begin with).

I am hoping this method will work, if not I still have many more speculations.

The only problem is, I noticed Oxygen, (or Op Flashpoint) limits the texture to a specific detail.  No matter how much detail you put into the texture, there is a limit.

Here is my work...

I was able to create the texture like this - using a grayscale image

bumpmaptexture.gif

I put it through oxygen and I came up with this -

http://www.roughnecks.org/specop/RandomImages/Bumpmaptest.jpg

I then put the texture ingame and I came up with this -

http://www.roughnecks.org/specop/RandomImages/Bumpmaptest2.jpg

it may seem like a texture technique, it is, partially, but there is alot more too it to give it the proper effect.

I did some experimenting, and I came up with this.

I was then able to add some special effects to the image in Paint & Photo Shop, and came out like this

Bumpmapimprove2.jpg

It may look good, but the problem is, it's a static texture and simply does'nt have any good effects.  (Meaning when I get close to it, it looks funny, and when I move around the lighting does'nt follow)

However when I put that textyre ingame, OFP swallows all the good detail put into it, and make's it shitty.

I'm trying to find a way to bipass this, and hopefully improve textures in Flashpoint by a huge amount.

Also I'm looking for a title name for the video...Resistance simply does'nt cut it for me.

I was thinking:

The Red Ascendancy

The Renegade Adversaries

Throe of War

or something like that

Interesting how Kozlov wants to keep his presence on the island in a secret and at the same time dozens of ships and choppers head to the island. I see Kozlov is an expert in covert operations  wink_o.gif  And in the end of campaign a million-men army of China lands on the island secretly...

Just kidding. By the way, i've filmed a Flashpoint video myself but i don't know where to host it. It's 17 Mb and 2:52 minutes long.

hehe, well let me rephrase that...

he does'nt want people to know what he's up to, rather than keeping his presence on the Island secret wink_o.gif

ok now let me rephrase that wink_o.gif Russian ships and choppers loaded with tonns of weaponory head to the island to help it fight the invasion of a million-man Chinese army and to resist the Chinese exploitators. "Russian soldiers-as Mr Kozlov said to the US officilas- are transported to the island to help cultivate crops".

Huh???

The Russians are invading The Southern Island...Chinese invaders have nothing to do with it...

You don't know the whole story tounge_o.gif But when you see the movie you will say..."ohh..ok i see."

I know you would expect the Chinese to try and stop the invaders. And they do try to, but there is a catch smile_o.gif And I'm hushing about that.

Wait wait, i think i get it. The Russians are invading a Chinese island but the Chinese army has nothing to do with it. Uum but why? If it the Chinese territory and it's getting captured by the Russian rebel forces then the Chinese government can send forces to the island in order to deal with the opposing force. rock.gifwink_o.gif But of course if the Russian troops are there to cultivate crops only then it's ok... Wait, maybe the Russians want to immigrate to China? rock.gif But why would they need all those weapons then? Hmm the plot is really interesting, can't wait to play the campaign. wink_o.gif

Important Hostages smile_o.gif

*cough* Jiang Zemin *cough*

Plus, the sheer size of the Hainan island is huge, and the ports and docks of china are completely being overrun by fleeing ships from Hainan in fear, and it's causing a huge blockup...
