Hold the southern road

In a mission called comvoy I am eventually suppposed to hold a southern road. There is a attack which was repelled. No more enemys appearing and it's getting dark. But no ending.

What am I supposed to do to accomplish mission?

i think there is another attack...with more tanks and bmps rolling toward the town...u are then ordered to extract to a base several kms north of ur location...this is where the fun begins...

When is this attack supposed to happen?

the first attack is from the south, the next one from the east.

if never managed it to defeat the second one
