As a serial misleader of the US senate, congress and citizens I would not trust a word Condoleezza Rice said. Of course their are fools in real life as there are in fairy tales.

Why quote someone who is a serial misleader?

As you too believe her to be a serial misleader; in fact one would be hard pressed to find anyone other than one who would buy the above mentioned set of "invisable to fools king's clothes", to believe anything Condoleezza Rice said. It would seem an apropriate responce to change the topic sub title from Condoleezza Rice's misleading assertion that ''there was no silver bullet" to be a more accurate there was a silver bullet but TBA shoot blanks.

The singular inability of TBA to protect its own citizens is after all at least worth a good kick up the ar*e.

I do not dispute that you correctly report her misleading assertion it would after all be hard to find her make a truthful assertion. I merely question the correctness of repeating the words of some one who deliberately misleads. In the UK when one misleads for profit it is called fraud, a criminal offence.

It would surely be more correct to assert the real case that there was a silver bullet.

9/11 could have been stopped it is just that TBA were either so criminaly negligent that they missed the threat or worse deliberately ignored the threat they were notified of. They did not after all issue a warning.

Does NOT lead to the conclusion air planes will be crashed into the World Trade Center.

You can't prevent soemthing very very very big to happen when you don't know what it is.  It's like trying to stab somebody in specific with a knife, blind, when there is 1 billion people around you.

The thread subtitle is not the problem.

I quoted it because she said it, reguardless if she lied when she said it.  It should infact be used as an example of her, Liar Liar Liar.

I already posted this somewhere else but some people don´t seem to remember. There had been multiple concrete warnings:

- In June the german BND warned the american CIA and the Mossad about "the hijacking of planes and use them as a weapon to attack major symbols of US civilization"

- On 13 th of June egypt warned the US CIA. They warned about "planes used as weapons to attack US targets"

- in august 2001 Putin himself gave the order to warn the US administration that 25 pilots have been trained to execute suicide attacks. Putin himself has warned the TBA of a "major attack within the USA using planes and suicide pilots".

- also in august the Mossad warned the CIA and FBI that at least 200 bin laden fighters were in the USA preparing a major attack on the USA including planes.

Now to say that they had no idea is a plain lie.

The case Zacarias Moussaoui should have given the last missing piece but it was not respected. There were several serious warnings about an upcoming attack with planes on targets of US civilaization. Moussaoui was in a flight school at that time learning to fly a 747. He was under FBI watch. But noone got worried.

It was a fault and they already lied when they said they had no indication that attacks will happen in the USA.

Fact is they were warned but didn´t draw any conclusions at all.

As for the only thing that could have been done to prevent 9/11, could be to have better security in the Airports. There are plenty "symbols of U.S. civilization" in the country. So this changes nothing. No longer are you trying to kill somebody in specific , blind, when there is 1 billion people around you, now we know the weapon they are using... a gun, a sword, a missile, or a nuclear bomb, who knows. I think 9/11 could have been much worse.

The low level and quality of US intelligence agencies humint often gets remarked on in the media outside the US. Even the US has admited it has wasted time and money on expensive techno solutions while scaleing back its human intelligence gathering. It has also outsouced much of its humint and if that aint stupid I dont no what is. Leaving your b**ls in someone elses hands is decidedly risky.

However there is an assumption in your statement: that the US intelligence agencies did not know and had not told TBA. It is quite possible they had but that for whatever reason TBA are keeping intell that paints them in a bad light secret.

The plane fact is they kept quiet on the august briefing and only came clean because somone leaked the memo to the 9/11 commision at least one FBI translator has said there are other doccuments and those of you in the US and your so called free press are not alowed to discuss it because The White House have made it top secret.

Consider several sources in the US intelligence agencies have said that is the case including former senior members of the cabinet Richard Clarke et al. Have stated on the record that there was a failure at the top.

At a lower level several intelligence assesors and agents have blown the whistle on TBA saying bad stuff is going on.

For a long time people have been saying there is "something rotten in the state of denmark." and the smell is comming from The White House it is the smell of corruption and something rotten.

From existing evidence I think we can say TBA might well be engaged in a cover up.
