Defining?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I am making unit addons, and I have all the basics covered.........except for 1

I created a holster, very realistic looking (IMHO), and in Bulldozer & O2 Lite, iot appears right where I placed it.on the belt on the right hand side. However, when I pbo the addon, the holster is half in the ground, sort of following the unit around like its attached to a string. I poured thru all of the posts in these forums, and the only 2 posts that I found that would havce helped, the authors had the same problem, then they found the fix on their own, and never bothered to go back and post the solution. So if anyone can give me a hand, I would greatly appreciate it.

hehe u need to select holster and that part of body where holster is lets say Left leg and redefine and normalize that together. If u dont do that the holster do not know where should be in animations so its on the ground or in air biggrin_o.gif

Thanks for the reply Hide, but how do i do that?

I selected the holster, and the belt, then hit F5 (recalculate normals) but the same problem happened. Am I doing this incorrectly?

What is redefine? Is that where I name what I select as a new slection? If so, does it need to be in Czech?

BTW, I have the radio doing this as well, the holster is named "holster", and the radio is named "radio", in english

After I select the two parts (example, the belt and the holster) do I make a new named selection for them? If so what would I call it?

Sorry for all the apparently redundant questions, I just started out making Units, and they are quite a bit more complicated than byuildings, islands, and maps crazy_o.gif

Hello,

Did you find the solution? I have the same kind of problem: I added a backpack to a model, but the pack doesn't "stick" to the back of the soldier crazy_o.gif . Thanks.

In O2 make sure you have the Named Selections window open.

For right thigh look for pstehno, click the name in the window once to see what areas it covers. Add your holster to the areas already selected (use ctrl and select the object), then right click on the name in the Named Selections window and "redefine" the selection to include what you just added.

For upper back look for hrudnik and maybe also zebra.

Thanks, I'll try this asap.

It DOES work, yeepee, thanks a million! biggrin_o.gif

Another question of the same kind: I tried to add a new pocket on the back of a soldier (using a copy of the original pocket on the leg). How to make it stick to the back (the pocket moves like the original on the leg)? I guess I have to separate the new pocket from the 'pstheno' area before redefining it to make it stick to the 'hrudnik' area (since the new pocket is not a new, undefined part). But I don't know how to do it... crazy_o.gif

Edit: found the answer thanks to Sniperwolf572 and DanAK47. Thanks smile_o.gif
