Recommended Posts

Whenever i try to start OFP now with the Beta icon it tells me "Requires DX8" and wont let me continue.....

I have DX9 and have already tried re-installing DX9

When i use the CSLA or any of the other icons the screen goes black and cuts out!!

Did you originally install OFP before or after installing DirectX?

If you installed OFP before DirectX, I would suggest uninstalling OFP, deleting all remaining OFP folders and reinstalling.

If that doesn't help, have you run DXDiag? Any errors reported?

Also, gives us detailed specs of your system's PC and the video drivers you're using.

I did some dx8/dx9 switching (back and forth a few times) some time ago and never had to reinstall ofp. Actually, i never had to reinstall ofp at all since v1.00.

True but there have been cases of people who installed OFP before they had installed DX (W98 only, if I'm not mistaken) and OFP refused to work until the uninstalled and reinstalled it.

If all else fails installing your OS over the top of itself (repair option) should reset DX to the original install version, only thing you'll lose is updated windows files.
