Oh-58d kiowa warrior and m109a6 paladin.

If OFP2 is modern I would like to see in-depth OH-58D KW Physics with proper MMS (Mast Mounted Sight) targeting, weapons systems etc.

It would also be cool if the KW could designate targets for M109A6 Paladin "Copperhead" rounds.

There should be organic artillery support within the game. although enemy AI should take a bit bringing it down otherwise it will just piss off the player. Arty should be made a bit less effective and take ages between salvoes otherwise it will be a bit too unbalanced.

Nope, they were laser-guided artillery rounds - some poor sap on the ground with a laser designator had to illuminate the target for the incoming rounds.

Supposedly it was accurate, but cumbersome - I'm pretty sure they dropped it after a few years.

Quote[/b] ]Laser-guided field artillery projectile (Copperhead). Copperhead is a 155-mm cannon-launched guided projectile (CLGP) with a shaped charge warhead and a laser seeker. When fired at a moving or stationary hard point target, Copperhead homes in on laser energy reflected from the target during the final portion of its trajectory. Laser energy is provided by a remote laser designator that may be ground, vehicular, or aerial mounted. Optimum use of Copperhead is against multiple targets in large target arrays outside the range of maneuver direct-fire weapon systems.

Yeah, all that would be cool. CLGPs would be sweet. Of course, cumbersome doesn't begin to describe it.

My inexpert understanding is: It's an artillery shell that has fins and can be guided for the final 13 seconds or so of flight. So you call in a copperhead mission, with your pulse repetition frequency. They tell you which plate to use. You then pull out the corresponding plate and lay it over the map, orienting for the gun-target angle. This shows the envelope of the copperhead shell. As an observer, you need to maneuver yourself so that the laser will get the proper reflectivity off the target so that you don't get backscatter or the shell homing in on the laser designator rather than the target.

In short, it's an expensive projectile that has a pretty limiting envelope. By comparison, air delivery of an LGB isn't much more expensive, and the warhead is much bigger.

Still, it would be nice to have.

I'd settle for reasonable artillery.

one of these days I'll put together a wish list for OFP2.
