Aaahh!!

Recommended Posts

Ok, after not playing this game after like 10 months, I turn on the game and start playing again after the last mission where I left off.

I was on the mission "Recon", and just completed it.

Well, after I beat the mission recon, it moved me on to the next mission.

I started the next mission, some tank mission and decided to end it before I really did anything in it and go to bed instead.

So when I exited the mission, I noticed in my campaign book that it said Recon was the last mission that I was on, with the pic of the Black Op, and after that there was a "continue" link with the picture of Col Blake with the jeep. No picture of my new tank mission name.

I thought that was odd. So I tried to play the new mission by clicking on "continue" and it put me back where I was in the middle of the mission. Not at the briefing or at the beginning even!

Boy I was PISSED! I didn't even want to play that mission at the time. I just finished up Recon and wanted to go to bed.

So now I tried it again today, and this time I tried everything to make it go back, by hitting retry and all that.

I could start over, but not at the breifing, and eventually the game automatically deleted that mission entirely and now I have to replay "Recon" in order to do it again.

Now I am REALLY PISSED! It has never done this before and it is enough to make me ... well, I am not going to delete this game just yet. But I am mad! I was so relieved when I finished Recon without firing a shot. It is a unique and fun mission, but I DO NOT want to have to play it over at the time. I just want to finish up the campaign and start on Red Hammer. I have not even started Resistence yet!

Can someone please tell me what is wrong?

I have version 1.90 I think.

thanks

Well, if your don't care about the "highscores," then just do the endmission cheat.  Useful for buggy maps too.

while in mission

press [shift] and num minus [-] together

and then type endmission

I could try that, but I don't want the game to do it again.

What happened?

And if I tried the end mission cheat, how would it end?

Will I have lost a man?

Are there any consequences to using it?

I have version 1.90 I think.

Why think? biggrin_o.gif What does it say on the top center of OFP's main menu?

Also did you install from the Resistance or the GOTY CD?

If the Resistance CD, did you install the 1985 Campaign Patch?

Search The FAQ for "endmission".

Thanks, its good to be back here playing OPF again smile_o.gif

I checked, I have version 1.90

I got the GOTY edition, and the only patches I downloaded since it's installation was the 1.90 patch.

I don't know if that tells you anything.

You should first upgrade to 1.91. Then install the 1.94 beta patch and run OFP from its beta EXE file.

However, I don't think that has anything to do with your problem. I suggest playing Recon again till the end. Then start the next mission and do a save a bit after it starts. That should retain your position in the campaign.

Otherwise, just use the CAMPAIGN cheat to move on.

Darn it. I did the cheat willing to accept the price.

So I got to Killdozer, and you know what? It did it again.

The thing that it did exactly? My killdozer placing in my campaign book is listed only as a "continuation" of my Recon mission.

Even stranger, when I was playing Killdozer, it said my name was Gastovski, and my weapons selection was exactly the same that I picked in the Recon mission. An MP5 and just 2 magazines, that's all.

Plus, I only had 2 teammates listed, both with the same weapons I gave to my 2 black ops in my last mission, recon. They even had the same names, Bobby Bruning, and whatever.

To add another point, I don't know if this is important, but maybe someone can test this.

I recently reformatted my Hard drive. Not before saving my "User" folder in my OPF folder to a writable CD.

When I reinstalled OPF, I started off playing a quick singleplayer mission like steal the car just to create my user folder in the OPF folder, and then I just took the User folder from my CD and put it in the place of the new one.

That is where I left off. What I saved onto the CD before I reformatted my hard drive was my game up to just after starting Recon.

Search The FAQ for "read-only". smile_o.gif

Ok, so how do I find out if that happened to MY files?

I hope not. I got all that way up to Recon.

In Windows, right-click on your saved campaign 1985.pbo file and select PROPERTIES. If the READ-ONLY attribute is checked, uncheck it and click OK. Presto!

I just dont undestand people that installs everything on one drive (c:)

I have 3 drives for example(c:,d:,e:)

c: is only 1GB and there's only Windows itself there.

Every other program i install on d: or e:

So when i format my system, all my programs remain undeleted and i can continue using them.

Tried that, it was already unchecked when I got there.

Also check the subfolders and files in this path:

\OperationFlashpoint\Users\yourPlayerName\Saved\campaigns\1985

I suggest renaming your 1985.pbo and deleting all the files in \OperationFlashpoint\Users\yourPlayerName\Saved\campaigns\1985.

The use the CAMPAIGN cheat, select the next mission you want to play and choose REVERT from the menu.

Cracked versions doesn't need any REG information. But some of the programs(Dreamweaver for example) asks a serial number smile_o.gif

So, you've got the cracked version? That's how you can reinstall Windows without any OFP reg entries?

Ok, I guess I will have to do that. But it sounds complicated. Can you write a small walk through for me to follow?

I don't want to delete all my user settings or mess anything up.

This is a sort of last resort. All my old scores will be down the drains.

Thanx

Ok, can you atleast tell me how to rename the 1981.pbo file and how to delete all those other files without ruining anything?

To rename a file, right click on the file and select RENAME.

doh.jpg

Delete those other files like I told you. If you're afraid to delete them, copy the \Saved\campaigns\1985 folder (right click, COPY) elsewhere for backup and then delete the original.

Ok, I renamed and deleted the files. But when I went into the game and tried the campaign cheat, it activated the wrong campaign.

So when I leave the game and go to the campaign book, my Resistence campaign is fulled up, but I am still at the training portion of my CWC campaign.

Now I gotta activate the right campaign and clear out the Resistence one. How do I do that?

In the CAMPAIGN BOOK, there's a little arrow that let's you click to see the next or previous campaign. Click on it until the 1985 campaign shows. Then use the CAMPAIGN cheat.
