Lowerable/raisable goggles: worth it, or not?

Recommended Posts

As the majority here already know, a lot of addons use lowerable/raisable goggles. The BAS Rangers, Laser's Russian Naval Infantry and the Operation Northstar soldiers to name a few. Sure, they look nice and all when they're needed... but, they have drawbacks. They warp alot when the player/AI moves his head, or makes a sudden movement. (The worst being when you're crouched, and then quickly sidestep.)

Personally, I think addon teams shouldn't bother with them. It'd save them a little time...

PS: Those removeable helmets are cool, however. smile_o.gif

personally, I'd like to see the ability to change from helmet to say boonie cap or baret..... For a more peaceful environment, and also to be able to have a cammoflage face action and say a " put on ghile suit " action for sniper models.... tounge_o.gif

the kmarns international soldiers have the "add camoflage facepaint" and "remove helmet" (the remove helmet has one of those nifty wooly hat things.)

They look very cool with the helmet off (which goes onto the unit's belt) and facepaint on.

I voted yes, since when the Littlebird update is done, you wont be able to go near a BAS helicopter (with its rotors turning) without them... wink_o.gif

"My eyes, ze goggles do--" *puts on goggles* "...actually, it's rather comfortable."

I would vote no to goggles if they had no practical application, but they do, (BAS helidust) , so i vote yes and about the helmets...Kmarns , ONS and BOH Mods have nifty features which are pure eye candy (helmets\camouflaged helmets\berets, camouflaged faces) but they relly look good , the only thing that bothers me is that u get cluttered action menus that slow your actions down.

Personally, I think goggles that move up and down are too much of a novelty to take up valuable space in the action menu.

If there a way to shift the use of googles away from the action menu, and assign 'goggle actions' as a key on the keyboard, like binoculars, I'd be all for it. But theres not and as a result, it just gets in the way of more important menu items, such as reload.

Press "R" for reload. Why doesn't anyone press "R" for reload? It saves valuable seconds.

but only if they have a sence... well thanks to BAS and their blink- script they do!

what´d be really nice too, if the tonali sandstorm would cause such an effect too... *hint* tounge_o.gif

I'm an up, down, left, right user in OFP. Not W,S,A,D.

Kind of a handicap, but it prevents unintentional button mashing, which I did often in the heat of some nasty battles.  smile_o.gif

And besides, I've got a scroll wheel on my mouse, why not use it? rock.giftounge_o.gif

Personally, I'm a fan of them because they help make units seem a lot cooler (for cutscenes, etc)...but the downside is the action menus. I wish they could be moved down or something...
