berghoff   11 Posted November 23, 2003 Hi, I have strange problems with OFP lately. I was playing ofp fine a few days ago but...Suddenly I was just playing OFP in SP and letters and words started flickering  . Then it crashed. I didn't install anything new that week only SP1 for XP. I tried installing different VIA drivers like 4.43 and 4.49 but no luck. I also tried the new CAT3.9 and the OMEGA ones...also that didn't work. I search The avon faq...I even tried to install cloneCd and nero, Again...nothing. Reinstalling OFP didn't work as well. I got this "Your system recovered from a serious error" error message. I clicked on send error report...On the MS site it says it was something with bad drivers. So I reinstalled XP with CAT3.9 and damnit still Crashes   OFP is only game I play atm  In the past I had that "loop error" since then no crashes, freezes or lock-up until a few days ago. Something as caused this but what, I don't know. Some driver is screwed and is causing this. I had this before but It suddenly disappeard, this time nothing helps. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 11/23/2003, 16:33:29 Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) (2600.xpclient.010817-1148) Language: English (Regional Setting: Dutch) System Manufacturer: n/a System Model: n/a BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.0 Processor: AMD Athlon(TM) XP 2400+,  MMX,  3DNow,~2.0GHz Memory: 512MB RAM Page File: 119MB used, 1131MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0b (4.09.0000.0902) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.0001.0902 32bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------  DirectX Files Tab: No problems found.    Display Tab 1: No problems found.     Sound Tab 1: No problems found.      Music Tab: No problems found.      Input Tab: No problems found.     Network Tab: No problems found. -------------------- DirectX Debug Levels -------------------- Direct3D:   0/4 (n/a) DirectDraw:  0/4 (retail) DirectInput: 0/5 (n/a) DirectMusic: 0/5 (n/a) DirectPlay:  0/9 (retail) DirectSound: 0/5 (retail) DirectShow:  0/6 (retail) --------------- Display Devices ---------------     Card name: RADEON 9700 PRO   Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.     Chip type: RADEON 9700 AGP (0x4E44)     DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)    Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4E44&SUBSYS_00021002&REV_00  Display Memory: 128.0 MB   Current Mode: 1280 x 1024 (32 bit) (85Hz)      Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor  Monitor Max Res: 1600,1200    Driver Name: ati2dvag.dll  Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6378 (English)    DDI Version: 9 (or higher) Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 8/12/2003 22:34:46, 369152 bytes    WHQL Logo'd: Yes  WHQL Date Stamp: n/a        VDD: n/a     Mini VDD: ati2mtag.sys   Mini VDD Date: 8/12/2003 22:34:28, 594432 bytes Device Identifier: {D7B71EE2-0D04-11CF-586B-0820A1C2CB35}     Vendor ID: 0x1002     Device ID: 0x4E44     SubSys ID: 0x00021002    Revision ID: 0x0000    Revision ID: 0x0000    Video Accel: ModeMPEG2_C ModeMPEG2_D Deinterlace Caps: {6E8329FF-B642-418B-BCF0-BCB6591E255F}: Format(In/Out)=(YUY2,YUY2) Frames(Prev/Fwd/Back)=(0,0,1) Caps=DeinterlaceTech_PixelAdaptive          {335AA36E-7884-43A4-9C91-7F87FAF3E37E}: Format(In/Out)=(YUY2,YUY2) Frames(Prev/Fwd/Back)=(0,0,0) Caps=DeinterlaceTech_BOBVerticalStretch          {6E8329FF-B642-418B-BCF0-BCB6591E255F}: Format(In/Out)=(UYVY,UYVY) Frames(Prev/Fwd/Back)=(0,0,1) Caps=DeinterlaceTech_PixelAdaptive          {335AA36E-7884-43A4-9C91-7F87FAF3E37E}: Format(In/Out)=(UYVY,UYVY) Frames(Prev/Fwd/Back)=(0,0,0) Caps=DeinterlaceTech_BOBVerticalStretch          {6E8329FF-B642-418B-BCF0-BCB6591E255F}: Format(In/Out)=(YV12,0x32315659) Frames(Prev/Fwd/Back)=(0,0,1) Caps=DeinterlaceTech_PixelAdaptive          {335AA36E-7884-43A4-9C91-7F87FAF3E37E}: Format(In/Out)=(YV12,0x32315659) Frames(Prev/Fwd/Back)=(0,0,0) Caps=DeinterlaceTech_BOBVerticalStretch          {6E8329FF-B642-418B-BCF0-BCB6591E255F}: Format(In/Out)=(NV12,0x3231564e) Frames(Prev/Fwd/Back)=(0,0,1) Caps=DeinterlaceTech_PixelAdaptive          {335AA36E-7884-43A4-9C91-7F87FAF3E37E}: Format(In/Out)=(NV12,0x3231564e) Frames(Prev/Fwd/Back)=(0,0,0) Caps=DeinterlaceTech_BOBVerticalStretch     Registry: OK   DDraw Status: Enabled    D3D Status: Enabled    AGP Status: Enabled DDraw Test Result: Not run D3D7 Test Result: Not run D3D8 Test Result: Not run D3D9 Test Result: Not run ------------- Sound Devices -------------       Description: SB Live! berghoff   11 Posted November 23, 2003 Hmmm, maybe the VPU recover thingy is causing this... Quote[/b] ]Call of Duty: system hangs or VPU recover error messages playing game This issue affects the following configurations: RADEON 9500 Series RADEON 9600 Series RADEON 9700 Series RADEON 9800 Series CATALYST 3.8 and later drivers Some users have reported that after the game is launched, the system may hang or produce a VPU recover error. Other boards may be affected. gonna try this "hotfix";
BraTTy   0 Posted November 24, 2003 How the hotfix work? Maybe make sure that no dual monitor support got accidently enabled lately (and your using just one monitor) Try lowering your agp aperature in bios Sounds like possible heat problem too,I always check and make sure the video card fan is running and if you have had the card for any amount of time it may even have dust

BraTTy   0 Posted December 4, 2003 Oops sorry for delayed reply, I've had several video card fans stop running (our computers get used alot) My last one I was able to ziptie a cpu fan to it and it is still running And not that I recommend always ziptye a fan there, but I tried to get the fan to replace and stores may have them now but they are different sizes and hard to find
