rowmacks 0 Posted February 14, 2004 The SMAW is a Shoulder fired Multi-purpose Assault Weapon. It's one-man portable, re-usable and has a spotting rifle on the right side. Marines use it in a line companies weapons platoon Assault section. There are no Javelins in a weapons platoon. The Javelins are in Weapons company along with heavy guns (mk19's 50cal) and 81mm mortars. There are 2 main rockets used for the SMAW an HEDP (High Explosive Dual Purpose) and an HEAA (High Explosive Anti Armor) The HEDP is used for bunker busting and urban targets, the AA is used for light skinned vehicles and older model tanks. It's not made for engaging any 'newer' model of tank, such as a T-72+, anything above that you're just going to possibly get a mobility kill.
