Can't host using sockets

Recommended Posts

Well I've racked my brains, but have come up short (suprise suprise). Problem is this:

OFP 1.91, when using Sockets for MP over LAN. Cannot create a server. Screen says "Creating Client", then after about 15 seconds dumps back to the MP setup screen.

I can use DirectPlay, I can join a Sockets session over LAN (I don't really play online), I just can't host. Internet Connection Firewall is off, Internet Connection Sharing is off. Network consists of three computers (one 98SE, one XP Home, one XP Pro) all into a 5-port switch, with ADSL model into switch as well.

WinXP Home

P4 2.4C

Geforce4 Ti4200

Creeative Vibra128 S/card

Asus Mobo (GA blah blah)

Any Xperts tounge_o.gif know the answer to this one? Much appreciated!

I dont have any experience on LAN playing ..but ..have you got the same patches on ALL 3 PC's ? Also is there a AddOn in your HOST's folder which utilizes a higher OFP version like 1.92? rock.gif

Oh btw i am jealous by your PC specs tounge_o.gif 2.4c and ti4200.

Yep, all three are running 1.91 (for the moment, got to transfer onto other PC). No addons require 1.92 or above; like I said, I can join the session just fine...just not host sad_o.gif

Hehehe....still, I'd love that $30,000 PC someone posted wow_o.gif
