Suppressive fire?

Playing around with a script to improve enemy AI's reactions to suppressive fire (i.e keep their heads down).

Wonder how suppressive fire usually is performed in RLâ„¢ with a M60 or PK. Is it longer bursts or short 3-5 shot bursts, or maybe there is no generic rule?

You could fire it at a higher rate but i dowt it would be very acurate, i think the military are told in training to fire the weapon in 3-5 round bursts to avoid jamming and to keep the shots on target...

Thanks for your reply BAJ, as it is now you have to fire ~10+ rounds sustained in full auto for it to affect the enemy.

Now when you bring up jamming I wonder if this is a "feature" people wan't? Lets say that your MG had a random chance to jam if you fired full auto for longer periodes?

Aeon is working on a gun jam for his FIA mod. Here is a link to it where he reveals this new feature. I think it is a welcome addition to the game as it adds a random element that is another one of the real hazards of warfare.
