-=anders=- 0 Posted August 5, 2003 I'm using my older PIII1GHz, 512MB DDR etc. for a dedicated server... But the problem is that peoples can't join from Internet.. I have a router and I have my comp on the other line and the server on the other... So I can join, but only over LAN right... And it works perfectly, but why cant peeps join over Internet??? I've given them my IP-adress that i get from my ISP, but is there something I've forgotten??? Ive never set up a ded. server before, so you must help me.. I know I have to type down some shit in a file called "sample.cfg". Is there anything I should typ to have peeps to se my server on the Internet or not?! I have open the port (2302) so if I host a game on my comp. there's no problem... ;) Shouldn't it be the same with ded. servers?? Btw, can someone send me their *.cfg -file so I can see how it really should look.. I need help fast plz!
shadow 6 Posted August 5, 2003 I have a router and ... A router. You need to configure NAT on your router. Check your router's manual on how to configure Network Adress Translation. Quote[/b] ]Short for Network Address Translation, an Internet standard that enables a local-area network (LAN) to use one set of IP addresses for internal traffic and a second set of addresses for external traffic. A NAT box located where the LAN meets the Internet makes all necessary IP address translations. In short: you need to tell your router which local machine the data should be sent to when someone outside tries to connect with your external IP and port:2302 Typical settings that need to be configured on your router: *External port *Internal IP *Internal port So it's a good thing to disable DHCP for that particular computer because your router only forwards data to that particular IP. ...and IP's can change when controlled by DHCP (in your router). -=anders=- 0 Posted August 6, 2003 OK, I've fixed that problem, now to a new problem... We play a mod called FDF all the time so were having some problems with servercrashes on different missions except coop missions... I have no clue why. Anyway, I have also no clue on what i can typ in the server cfg... There are two cfg files called: sample.cfg Flashpoint.cfg They were in the zip package for "Resistance standalone server (1.91)".. Should I attach the Flashpoint.cfg to the OFPR_Server.bat too??? I've attached the sample.cfg Is there anyone who's also have this problem that they can't play dm, ctf, cti missions when playing FDF??? And only can play coop missions?? One other thing... When I try to pick up a coopmission I wanna play, the server automatically picks up a ctf or something like that, that I've never touched. So I can't choose to play certain coop mission, but other works... This is a very strange problem... In the sample.cfg, what should I type in that file??? shadow 6 Posted August 6, 2003 The CFG-file holds init-parameters for the server (user-password,admin-password,welcome-message,missions-cycle-list etc) It is not required, but as soon as you want a admin-password etc you'll need that file. You load it with the shortcut to your EXE: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">\operation flashpoint\flashpointserver.exe -config=sample.cfg I might have used the wrong name for the server.exe but you get the idea. You can also start a dedi-server with the regular EXE. You just need to add the parameter -server to it along with the -config-line (might need Have you tried playing without the FDF-mod? Might help. -=anders=- 0 Posted August 6, 2003 Have you tried playing without the FDF-mod?Might help. Yeah, but I've screwed up a file called "o.pbo". I think I putted it into the regular "addon-directory" and when I erased that file I got this error when I tried to start the original game: Cannot memory-map file "RES\addons\o.pbo" So is there any way to solve THAT problem??? benu 1 Posted August 8, 2003 Re-install resistance or copy the file from the resistance-cd I wouldn't copy O.pbo from the resistance cd as it was changed from v1.75 to v1.85. Better reinstall if it is damaged.
Certa 0 Posted August 9, 2003 I have open the port (2302) so if I host a game on my comp. there's no problem... ;) Just to be sure, open 2302, 2303 and 2304, all UDP. It's possible to get away with one port but OFP/R uses the additional ports for querying etc.
