Dreaded blue screen of death.

Recommended Posts

Greetings all,

I'm having a slight problem:

Whenever I fire up ANY of Operationflashpoint's levels (ie. Actually play OFP), I'lll play it for a random amout of time (A couple seconds to four hours), and then I get this Blue screen with some 0's and 9's and X's in it. (It flashes for around one second), and then the next thing I know, my computer restarts. When it finally gets back up, it says that it has encountered a "Serious error". I'm sorry if you don't understand; I tried to be as specific and descriptive as possible.

I'm using the Latest version of OFP, I'm also useing the Gold Upgrade and the expansion pack. I am running Windows XP, 512 DDR Ram, 1.5Ghz Athlon XP, Geforce 4 Ti4200. (Overclocked).

Some help would be appriciated,

Thanks for your time,

-Sid

I got some more information on this:

I loaded another OFP mission - and it played fine for a while. But then my sound all of a sudden cut out. So, I pressed ESC (The Pause menu) and clicked continue. Then my sound came back, but only for a couple seconds. It then started looping, and I got the blue screen of death, and then my Computer restarted.

Here's the error when it comes up after the crash:

C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini062703-02.dmp

C:\DOCUME~1\Sid\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER12.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml

And

BCCode : c5 BCP1 : 00000004 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000001

BCP4 : 80534DE3 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 1_0 Product : 768_1

This is most likely a device conflict. I had this problem using Windows XP Pro and the latest Soundblaster Live drivers. I got a new sound card from Hercules and all the problems went away. Don't know what devices you are using but it's probably your sound card or graphics cards causing a conflict. People are going to bring up the size of your power supply etc., but most of the time the problem is one of the devices.

Dadster:

I have the SBLive! card as well, and experience the same problem when playing. Is there any kind of alternate solution?

I have the exact same sound card!

...Maybe it's a bug with OFP...?

Have you tried lowering the hardware acceleration for your sound card in DXDiag. Lower it by one notch (slide to the left) on the Sound 1 tab and see if the game stops crashing.

This worked for me - OFP was crashing every 5 minutes or less. Now it doesn't crash at all.

Athlon XP2600

Radeon 9800 Pro

Audigy 2 Platinum
