lonesoldier 0 Posted June 27, 2003 How? I have a small picture, but it has a black square around the edge of it. I need to know how to make the black part transparent. Also, can the picture still be a .jpg? or does it have to be a .paa, or .tga? Cheers.
RED 0 Posted June 27, 2003 The picture must be .paa format to display transparency, save it as .tga then convert it to .paa (it has been a while since I have bothered to do this so there might be an easier way ) RED
lonesoldier 0 Posted June 27, 2003 Cheers. But, how do i actually make the black part transparent?
Leone 1 Posted June 27, 2003 I use Photoshop 5.0, but I'll just assume that the process is the same  What ever format your texture is in, you will have to convert it to a .tga file. Go "Window"=>"Show Channels". Now create an alpha channel (assuming it doesn't already have one) by clicking the little icon of a page with the bottom left-hand corner turned up. You can only work in Black=>through Grey=>to White, so try and think of the A channel as a mask. Save your beautifully made new texture as a 32-bit .tga file. Open as a source file in Texview and save as a .paa. Done  (So what does "preview post" mean anyway? )
lonesoldier 0 Posted June 27, 2003 Cheers man "Preview Post" means you can preview your post before you post it, to make sure everything is good.
