roastbeast 0 Posted June 24, 2003 As of late, my OFP has been acting strangely. Everyhting else in the game works flawlessly, but if I click on the "Multiplayer" button, or try to connect to a game on GS Arcade, the game just closes and brings me back to my desktop with no error message or any sort. Here's what I've tried: restarting computer, uninstalling OFP and deleting directory, removing all addons from addon folder, re-installing patches 1.30 and 1.46, changing to Hardware T&L and back again, uninstalling games or apps I installed recently, resetting my router. I haven't found a solution and there is no evidence of viruses or errors in my OFP directory. As far as hardware goes, I have an AMD Athlon 800Mhz Processor, ASUS V8170 Graphics card w/ GeForce 4 MX Graphics Processing Unit, 448 Mb RAM, Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router. Not sure what motherboard. I am running Windows ME as my OS. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
RedHavoc 0 Posted June 26, 2003 I'm having the same kind of problem, with the difference that my computer freezes completely when I press multiplayer. I have updated chipset and display drivers and directx. Everything else in OFP and in the computer works fine. But, at the same time, I've had serious problems with GSA. I can't get contact to their servers, after the last upgrade (1.3) it stops right at the beginning, downloading the service map doesn't work. The GSA staff and my ISP have been working with the problem, with no result. So I think that these two things have something to do with each other? The other theory is that this has something to with directx, since this occurred after updating to 9.0. I see that we have something common: WIn Me, Geforce and ADSL. BraTTy 0 Posted June 26, 2003 And of course you have tried it with that anti-virus program disabled? And any firewalls disabled?
roastbeast 0 Posted June 26, 2003 Yes, I've tried it with those things disabled, and still no change. I checked my Flashpoint.rpt and it said this: file: intro world: Intro campaign: battle: mission: Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION Fault address: 0197C3BC 01:0000B3BC C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DPNHUPNP.DLL Fault address: 0197C3BC 01:0000B3BC C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DPNHUPNP.DLL Prev. code bytes: E6 FF FF 89 45 74 8B 7D 64 85 FF 76 22 8D 75 E8 Fault code bytes: 8B 06 85 C0 74 13 50 6A 00 FF 15 84 10 97 01 50 Registers: EAX:00000000 EBX:0083B83C ECX:BFF9243C EDX:00000000 ESI:03180014 EDI:01762B66 CS:EIP:0187:0197C3BC SS:ESP:018F:0317F0FC EBP:0317F33C DS:018F ES:018F FS:264F GS:0000 Flags:00010206 I guess the problem is in a file related to DirectX and Directplay. I don't know if I should delete because it is a dll and it might screw something up majorly. Is there a newer version of DirectX (I have 9.0) that I could install? Heatseeker 0 Posted June 27, 2003 Have you tried ASE?, If you had resistance expantion you could try the ingame browser, is version 1.46 still suported by GS? Maybe its a prob between GS and DX9...i think the easiest solution would be to buy resistance, not expensive and really worth it .
