der bastler 0 Posted May 11, 2003 As admin of the OFP-Zone gaming server I'm writing coops for our weekly coop evening. With the release of the Invasion44-Demo we had some "Inv44 Wochen" (Inv44 weeks) and I wrote a conquer-the-beach-coop named "Strand von Sicily" (beach of Sicily). But I wanted more -namely a kind of mp-mode like Wolfenstein's "mp_beach". Today I'm proud to release a first version of "Strand von Sicily" with character class respawn! It's part of my very old OFP Project "RTOFP" (real team OFP) Download@ofp-zone.de Type: Team-Coop Required addons: - demo of Invasion44-Mod - Higgins landing craft V2.00 by Marss911 - GebaeudeAddon by JörgF. (www.mapfact.net) Content: The Allies have to conquer the beach, to take out the coastal MGs and to secure the main bunker (fly the US-flag). The Germans have to defend the bunkers; they can re-conquer the main bunker (fly the Reichskriegsflagge*). Features: At the beginning and with every respawn the player can choose a soldier class: -machinegunner -sniper -officer (can call artillery support with his smoke shells) -engineer (bazooka/explosives) -medic (heals automatically itself and other comrades close-by) Place of respawn (POR) of the Germans: The main bunker, possible every 30 seconds. If it's conquered by the Alliies, the POR moves to a base to the west (where you can find some unarmed vehicles). POR of the Allies: The landing craft which frequents the beach approx. every minute. There are mine fields to the north and to the south, limiting the "arena". You'll get a briefing in German or English according to the side you've chosen. Important phrases and words are localized in German and English. Known bug: The west engineer is equipped with a bazooka and explosives, but he can't use them until he re-organizes his inventory. Perhaps due to the in-boat-respawn (the german engineer doesn't have this problem). I've not tested the map with other players, therefore it's beta. It's intended as pattern, let me know if you write missions based on it. "Inv44 Wochen" are gone, now we want to start "Nam Wochen" ... let's see if I can modify the basic concept of "Strand von Sicily"... (*) I had to modify the nazi war flag because in Germany it's highly illegal to show certain symbols. Only exceptions: Arts, Science (games are still not accepted as some kind of art...). lonesoldier 0 Posted May 14, 2003 Played the mission, by myself Not bad at all. Love the artillery, and the way you respawn in a higgins. AND the weapons selection. BUT. The sandbag bunkers you used... look crap. In my opinion, the mission would be alot better if you used bunkers from the BunkerPacks 1 through to 5. There are also another 2 bunker packs, with awesome bunkers in them. WW2EC Website Go there, and have a look in the addons and islands sections. But, overall, VERY good mission. With the bunkers in the bunker pack, this mission has great potential. Keep up the good work I also have a question for you: Would you mind at all if i used your unit respawn method? der bastler 0 Posted May 14, 2003 My work is based upon "open source". If you like it, feel free to use it. Just mention me somewhere (readme or intro or outro or...). I used the standard-OFP-sandbag bunkers because this mission was originally designed for our public server and we don't want to use too many addons to save up-/download time for admins as well as for gamers...
