TerranAce007 0 Posted April 18, 2003 Okay, this is really starting to piss me off. I can never play OFPR anymore because I seem to get this error all the time and I have to reboot in order to play again. If I start up Resistance right after the reboot, it works fine. If I do other stuff on my computer and then start resistance, I get the error. Sometimes I get the error on O.pbo, but I dont always have to reboot to play again. I HAVE to reboot for the music.pbo error. I didn't get this error very often before(occasionally retsrating the game after a crash out of the mission builder from a typo, etc...), but ever since I installed the 1.91 patch I get it all the time. I had the old beta 1.91 installed prior to installing the new 1.91. Could that be the problem? It worked fine before.... I'm currently downloading the RedHat Linux 9 ISO's(which takes hours even on cable...) so I can't reboot or reinstall at the moment, but I'll try a reinstall later today. I have also tried a few different drivers, but I still have the problem, and OFPR worked with these drivers before. Mister Frag 0 Posted April 18, 2003 The V1.91 Beta and V1.91 Final are identical. The memory mapping failure is likely the result of memory fragmentation that has resulted from having other programs in memory. Try using FAST Defrag, a free memory optimizer and defragmenter. TerranAce007 0 Posted April 18, 2003 Well, from what I've gathered by searching the forums is that its an ATI specific problem, but I did something to either my game or my drivers cuz it wasnt happening before. I've been using CacheMan to free memory, but I'll give that one a try too.

hellfish6 7 Posted April 19, 2003 No offense, but a simple search would have answered all your questions. To make a long story short, this is a Radeon-specific problem. Nobody is totally sure why it happens, only that you should clear out some of your old/hardly used addons. For example, my Addons folder is 286mb right now, and I'm not getting the memory map error, even though I'm using a Radeon 7500. Try and trim it to somewhere around that size. Edit: Go to the ever wonderful Avon Lady's FAQ to learn how to solve your addon/memory map woes. Just search for "memory map" and "-mod subdirectories". .T. ANIMAL 0 Posted April 19, 2003 it`s simpel YOUR PC RUNS OUT OF RAM WHEN LOADING OFP how to fix it 1. buy more RAM??? 2. delete some of your addons i had the same problem
TerranAce007 0 Posted April 19, 2003 I doubt my PC is running out of RAM. I have 512mb, and I use Cacheman to free up unused memory also. I have virtual memory set to min of 1.5gb and max of 2gb. I decreased AGP aperature size to 32mb, deleted a bunch of unused add-ons, used the utility to remove 46bytes from O.pbo, but I still get the error. I'm trying to delete more add-ons, but I use a lot of them and I want to keep them. I'm gonna try some different video drivers later, although my current ones have given me the best performance. Any other ideas?
