Waypoints not showing up

Recommended Posts

I've searched the forums for previous posts on this topic, but from the results, it seems I may be unique.

I recently upgraded to Resistance (Yeah, procrastinated) and I've been messing around in the editor lately.  I've noticed that I can assign all the waypoints I want to the 'player', but they never seem to show up when I preview the mission.  Could someone help me understand why that might be?  Some other things I've noticed...

When on foot,

Waypoints don't show up, no matter what type of waypoint.

Even if I activate a waypoint using a trigger, still doesn't show.

When I have AI teammates, and I select them, it used to put the green circles around them, making it easy to tell where they were and their distance from me... this no longer happens.

The moment I enter a vehicle, these problems vanish.  I can see waypoints, I can select and see my teammates...  just like it should be.

I'm hoping this is something simple... just a setting in the options maybe.  I've got OpFlash, Gold Upgrade and Resistance installed and patched to 1.91.  Some addons I've installed are Ballistic's Delta/Rangers, their LittleBirds, the BIS Camel, Support Pack, and DKMM's Commanche.  I am used to how this works in the campaigns... can someone help?

I've considered reinstalling everything to see if something was set wrong, but thought I'd stop by here and check first.

mission editor that comes with the game has habit of taking the difficulty level that the game has. in other words, difficulty setting would be my first answer/suggestion.

if you did not play the game before you start the editor, you might not see the waypoint boxes in preview mode since the difficulty setting is "veteran" and you disabled waypoint box in that difficulty level.

to see the waypoint boxes, play a game in Cadet mode and finish it, and then go for the editor.

I thought of that, too... and I checked my settings on difficulty. I'd never changed them from default, so they seemed ok. But just to try it out, I did what you suggested, and started up a campaign selecting Cadet. When I saved/quit the campaign and went into the mission editor, all worked like a charm.

Unfortunately, if I quit the game and started it again, it would set itself back to not showing me my waypoints. So it looks like I'm going to have to remember to start the campaign up and quit it before I work on my mission each night. What a pain...

Anyone else noticing this? Or is it just my luck?

Thanks for the quick response, RW!

Yeah, I got that 'problem', too. I figured out that I had to play a SP mission or the Campaign in Cadet Mode to get it to do things.

P.S. Cadet Mode does not 'suck-so-much-that-if-you-play-on-Cadet-mode-you-are-a-wimp-and-can't-handle-real-combat'.

I mean, on Veteran mode in the editor, I can't check if my objectives actually work, since there is no 'objective complete' sound. But if I switch to Cadet, there is a reassuring sound, in which case, I can be 100% sure the damn thing works!

That's all I have to say...

For some reason, even though I play my campaign games in Cadet mode, it still wants to make my mission editor games start in Veteran, unless I load up a campaign game and quit it before getting into the editor. Quite an inconvenience. I don't seem to remember this happening when I used the editor during my last "OpFlash addiction period" after I purchased the Gold upgrade. I guess it's like it's just not saving my options to stay in Cadet mode. I wonder if this is bug-report-worthy.

I don't think it's a bug, it's probably just the natural setting, although you really should have the option to change this in the editor itself.

This has been discussed in the past so often, i guess many are used to it(i certainly am one of them).

one thing you can do is play "Steal the car" in the cadet mode, and as soon as mission starts, throw a grenade to your feet and kill yourself. then goto mission editor.

Actually, you can just exit at the briefing screen, instead of killing yourself.
