IceFire 0 Posted February 9, 2003 Hi all, I downloaded the shareware rogerwilco today and got some wierd messages when trying to install it. When I went into the installation process, it said "admin required to adjust settings, login as admin". The strange thing is I think that I am logged in as Admin. After all, this is MY comp. If not, then what do I do? How do I loggin as admin? It never even asks me to logging when I turn on the comp, except for this one screen that my friend set up for me like a year ago. But this screen comes up before windows starts up. It's like in dos format or something. I bought my comp from compaq and it is pretty much the same as right out of the box. Can anyone help me? BTW, I lost my hard drive formatting CD's and manuals.
Mister Frag 0 Posted February 9, 2003 The installer might be doing something as stupid as comparing the name of the logged-in user to see if it is "Administrator", rather than checking the user's privileges. Just right-click on the file in Explorer, and choose "Run As" from the menu, then choose the "Administrator" account and enter the password, if any.
IceFire 0 Posted February 9, 2003 Ok, I tried that and it still says the same damn thing. Even when I am logged in as Administrator. I downloaded the shareware version of Roger Wilco from the website; //rogerwilco.gamespy.com Click on downloads on the main page, then install the shareware version at the bottom of the page. When installing it is when it says that. After you have completed the second page of user info. Any ideas? Thanks
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted February 9, 2003 step 1: delete Roger Wilco step 2: go here step 3: Download Teamspeak 1.3 or Teamspeak 2.0 step 4: Avoid anything controlled by Gamespy in the future
IceFire 0 Posted February 9, 2003 Cool, thanks. Is it compatible with people who use Roger Wilco?

You might be best getting Team Speak 1 as 2 has a few problems that I don't think have been fixed yet.
IceFire 0 Posted February 9, 2003 Thanks, I'll try that. IceFire
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted February 9, 2003 Yeah, [uSMC] uses Teamspeak 1.3 for all our comms needs. We have had almost no bitches about it, which is amzing considering we have tried any and every comm program that has been released in the past few years. RW, BattleCom, TeamSound, you name it, we tried it (And hated it). Teamspeak is the only way to go, in my opinion.
Itchy 0 Posted February 9, 2003 I had problems with Teamspeak 2 causing my PC to blue-screen. Upping the process priority within Teamspeak has solved problems that anyone I know has had. I'd recommend it over any other program.
