Guest Posted February 6, 2003 Does anybody know how to get the AI to lower the gear on a plane? I've tried the plane action ["gear down"], but it doesn't seem to exist. A "flaps down" action does exist and works fine. I'd be grateful if somebody could shed some light on this. I'm teaching a neural network how to land a plane in OFP and landing without the gear down is not a pleasent experience. Â
bn880 5 Posted February 6, 2003 Hmm, doesn't seem to work... I'm thinking it will be something like this pilot action ["Gear", planeName, "DOWN"] Weird. Anyway, as far as I can tell at the moment, there is no scripting action for that.
Guest BratZ Posted February 6, 2003 As soon as you pick landing autopilot, the plane raises/lowers the gear as needed? So if your in the air at 300m and you gear is down and turn on autopilot,it raises the gear And lowers it upon approaching the runway Why the AI wouldnt do it automatically doesnt make sense You forced the flaps ...maybe can try to force autolanding? Guest Posted February 6, 2003 Autolanding would kind of ruin my program since it's supposed to be a neural net controlled autopilot How about a switchmove or playmove? There should be some form of animation that can be triggered...

bn880 5 Posted February 6, 2003 plane action ["LAND GEAR"]; Toggles down/up You would have to add a little boolean gear monitor to it or something, with eventHandlers would be best. That is to make sure you never do the opposite action.

Guest BratZ Posted February 6, 2003 Ahah I knew there had to be a command.I wasn't saying use autoland,I was just saying maybe trigger it to check the gear, and I was pointing out the fact that AI uses that
Romolus 0 Posted March 4, 2003 Somehow the plane action ["LAND GEAR"]; only raises the gear when it's allready down but I can't get it to make the gear go down. Any ideas?
